Der Squashball ist aus Gummi, hat einen Durchmesser von 39,0 bis 40,5 mm (etwa so 

groß wie ein Tischtennis- oder ein Golfball) und wiegt zwischen 23,5 und 24,5 Gramm. 

Der Ball ist hohl und enthält einen Tropfen Flüssiggas, dadurch entsteht bei Erwärmung 

ein Überdruck. Der Ball muss warmgespielt werden, damit er seine volle Sprungfähigkeit 

erreicht. Üblicherweise sind Squashbälle schwarz. Für Spiele, die auf einem Glascourt 

stattfinden, werden grundsätzlich weiße Bälle genutzt, da diese sowohl für die Spieler 

als auch für die Zuschauer besser zu sehen sind. Anfängern sind grundsätzlich schnelle 

Squashbälle (blau bis rot) zu empfehlen, Fortgeschrittene können eher langsamere (gelb 

bis doppel gelb) benutzen, da die langsamen Bälle nur wenig vom Boden abspringen und 

so schwerer zu erreichen sind. Profis sind in der Lage, selbst sehr langsame Bälle auf 

hohe Geschwindigkeiten zu bringen. Bei Spielen mit Anfängern hingegen gelingen mit 

langsamen Bällen kaum Ballwechsel. Für offizielle Wettkämpfe werden nur sehr langsame 

Bälle verwendet, die mit zwei gelben Punkten markiert sind. Squashbälle erreichen 

unter Profis Geschwindigkeiten von bis zu 200 km/h. Bei einigen offiziellen Wettbewerben 

ist das Tragen eines Augenschutzes, meist in Form einer Kunststoffbrille, daher Pflicht. 

Die World Squash Federation gibt vor, dass für alle Doppel- und Jugend-Veranstaltungen 

Schutzbrillen (z.B. die VICTOR Squashbrille) getragen werden müssen! Die Besaitung hat 

Einfluss auf die Abnutzung des Balles. Multifile Saiten sind rauer und erlauben mehr 

Kontrolle über den Ball – der Ball nutzt schneller ab. Daher sollte man den Ball regelmäßig 

austauschen. Auch Squash-Neulinge sollten sich keinen Ball leihen, sondern in einen 

neuen Ball investieren, um den optimalen Spielspaß zu erfahren. VICTOR stellt einen Spielball 

für alle Turniere und Punktspiele in Deutschland, Österreich, Kolumbien und Brasilien. 

Made of rubber and hollow inside, the squash ball has the size of a regular table tennis or 

golf ball (diameter abt. 39 - 40.5 mm) and weights between 23.5 and 24.5 gram. A drop of 

liquid gas in the inside affects an overpressure when it gets heated, which makes a solid 

warm-up of the ball necessary for an optimal bounce on court. The usual color is black; 

however, if the game is set in a glass court, a white ball improves the visibility of the ball 

for the player and as well for the spectator. The recommended speeds differ in regards of 

the player’s expertise. Fast balls (blue or red dot) are best for beginners, while slow balls 

(yellow or double yellow dots) are recommended for advanced players, as they offer less 

bounce and thus are more difficult to reach. Professional players are nonetheless able to 

increase the speed of these slow balls to a maximum, but especially for starting players 

a rally with slow balls is hard to achieve. The approved ball for official tournaments is the 

slowest one with two yellow dots. Squashballs can reach up to 200 km/h. At some tournaments, 

the players are therefore obligated to wear an eye protection, most commonly 

synthetic glasses. Particularly at tournaments with youth players and double matches, the 

World Squash Federation has claimed proper protection glasses (for example the VICTOR 

Squash Goggles) to be worn without exception. During the game, the string of the rackets 

does also influence the performance of the ball. Especially the rough surface of multifilament 

strings improves the controllability, but has a high impact on the ball’s durability as 

well. Therefore a frequent change of the playing ball is inevitable, not only for professional, 

but also for beginning players. To enjoy the optimal playing experience from the very 

beginning, it is always recommended to invest in your own ball rather than renting one in 

a centre. VICTOR provides a tournament ball for Germany, Austria, Colombia and Brazil. 

WANN MUSS ICH MEINEN SQUASHBALL TAUSCHEN? WHEN DO I HAVE TO REPLACE MY SQUASH BALL? 

• Faustregel: Dauer der Spielzeit max. 8 Einheiten 

Der Grund: Das Flüssiggas im Inneren des Balls wirkt auf den Ball 

ein und verringert ab einer gewissen Zeit den Innendruck. 

• Wenn die Oberfläche glatt oder verschmutzt ist. 

• Bei Rissen an der Naht. 

• Schlaghärte/Spin: 

Je härter die Schläge, desto größer ist die Abnutzung. 

• Bei Raumtemperatur hält der Ball am längsten! 

Extreme Außentemperaturen können dem Ball schaden 

(porös bei Kälte, Verformung bei Hitze). 

• Bei Ligaspielen wird pro Spiel ein neuer Ball benutzt. 

Profis sollten im Training gleiche Voraussetzungen schaffen. 

• Basically after max. 8 playing units, because the liquid gas has an 

impact on the material and decreases the inner pressure after a while. 

• When the surface is flat or dirty. 

• When the neat has a crack. 

• Depending on the spin/hitting power: 

The harder you play, the faster you need a new ball. 

• Depending on the temperature: 

The best temperature to store the ball is in normal conditions; extreme 

temperatures can damage the ball (porous material, deformation). 

• Depending on your level: 

During league games, there is at least one new ball for each match, which 

should be the premise for a professional training as well.
