Vitra Design Museum
The Vitra Design Museum planned to
commission a poster reflecting the museum’s
philosophy.
To me Charles Eames, as one of the most
ingenious furniture designers, is a key figure
in this regard.
Eames like no other achieved to create furniture
of timeless elegance.
Eames’ Wire Chair in particular is an icon of
stable lightweight construction and at
the same time a reminiscence of avant-garde.
It was clear to me that the poster would
have to be light and airy, coming along with
a playful note. The Eames House Bird
perfectly emphasizes this idea.
