900 Jahre Weinbaugeschichte
und kein Ende: Weingut und
Veranstaltungs location Schloss
Johannisberg in Geisenheim
Auch kleinere Weingüter
öffnen der Musik zur Festivalzeit
ihre Pforten bzw. Höfe. Wie zu
Zeiten mittelalterlicher Barden und
Minnesänger reisen Musiker von Weingut
zu Weingut und begleiten den Wein- und
Kulinarik-Genuss durch beschwingte
Open Air-Konzerte – passend zu den
Weinen in Top-Qualität. Die „Fahrenden
Musiker in Weingütern“ sind eine höchst
beliebte Symbiose aus Wein, Musik und
Lebensfreude.
Wem der Sinn nach Comedy, Kabarett,
Theater, Brauchtum, Mundart, Musical
oder Chansons steht, dem seien die vielen
Kleinkunstbühnen der Region empfohlen.
Engagierte Künstlerinnen und Künstler
aus der Region versprechen Entertainment,
entspannten Kulturgenuss und
Improvisationsgeist.

For almost three months,
every thing revolves around
the link between culture, nature
and wine. With classical, jazz, pop
and world music, the music festival is as
diverse as the landscape which forms the
stage. Linked to it is the Rheingau Literature
Festival, which invites visitors to the
“WeinLese” – a dialogue with writers and
their works.
Unconventional locations
The venues read like a “best of” list of the
most impressive monasteries and churches,
castles and fortresses, as well as the
region’s cultural sites and local producers
– above all, vineyards. The events and concerts
held there provide the finest accompanying
wines in an impressive setting.
For example, the Eberbach Monastery is
a fantastic festival location with its majestic
elegance and unique acoustics. Other
impressive event locations are – to name
just a few – Johannisberg Castle, Schloss
Vollrads and the Abbey of St Hildegard.
Smaller wineries also open their doors, or
rather farmyards, to music during the festival.
Just like during the times of medieval
bards and minstrels, musicians travel
from vineyard to vineyard and provide the
accompaniment to the wines and cuisine
with lively open air concerts – top quality,
of course, to match the wines. The “vineyard
travelling musicians” are a highly
popular combination of wine, music and
joie de vivre.
If you enjoy comedy, cabaret, theatre, tradition,
dialect, musicals or chansons, then
the region’s numerous cabaret theatres
come highly recommended. Dedicated
performers from the region promise entertainment,
relaxed culture and improvisation.
