The systems basically differ
in the shielding used per channel:

In common ground systems, available
with Harting multipin connectors only,
the individual shields of the multicore
cables (together with the cable’s overall
shield) are laid onto the connector housing,
which may result in a mixture of different
ground potentials and generate balancing
currents that could cause cable
noise.
The benefit of these systems is their low
price, since their multipin connectors only
require 2 (+ / -) pins instead of three (+ / -
/ ground) per channel, enabling smaller
multipin connectors to be used depending
on the number of channels. The
FOH overall shield and individual shields
are connected to the 19” stagebox. By a
MON / REC GND LIFT switch the ground
connection between FOH and MON or
REC can be broken.
Bei Gesamtmasse Systemen, nur mit
Harting Multipin erhältlich, werden die
Einzelschirme von Multicore Kabeln
(zusammen mit dem Gesamtschirm des
Kabels) auf das Stecker-gehäuse gelegt,
d.h. es kommt u. U. zu einer Mischung verschiedener
Masse Potentiale, wodurch
Potential Ausgleichsströme fließen, die
Störungen in das Kabel induzieren können.
Der Vorteil dieser Systeme liegt in
einem günstigeren Anschaffungspreis, da
hier bei Multipin Steckverbindern nur 2 (+
/ -) statt 3 Pins (+ / - / Masse) je Kanal
benötigt werden und so auch, je nach
Kanalzahl, kleinere Multipin Stecker verwendet
werden können. Der FOH
Gesamtschirm wird, zusammen mit den
Einzelschirmen, auf das Gehäuse der
Stagebox gelegt. Durch Ground-Lift
Schalter kann die Masseverbindung zwischen
FOH und MON bzw. REC getrennt
werden.

Outer Screen Plug
In single ground systems the shields of
the individual channels are separated
from input to output. This system
offers the benefit of clearly distinct
grounding between inputs and outputs.
Single ground is the standard wiring
system used by KLOTZ a-i-s. In this system,
the individual shields are wired separately
throughout the multicore cable. The
overall shield, if applicable, is wired to a
separate contact in the multipin connector
and is connected to the 19” stagebox.
The ground connection between FOH
and MON or REC can be broken by a MON
/ REC GND LIFT switch or a strapping plug.
Return paths can be separated specifically
from other grounds by ground-lift
switches in BlueLine Pro, DrumLink Pro
and msd systems.

In stagebox systems, the following
earthing options are used for stagebox
housings:

cable (if present) by means of a shield
connection at the XLR fanout

Bei Einzelmasse Systemen werden die
Schirme der einzelnen Kanäle vom
Eingang bis zum Ausgang getrennt
geführt. Dieses System bietet den Vorteil
eindeutiger Masseverhältnisse zwischen
Ein- und Ausgängen. Einzelmasse ist das
Standard Verdrahtungskonzept von
KLOTZ a-i-s. Es ist die konsequente
Verdrahtung der im Multicore Kabel
getrennt geführten Einzelschirme.
Der Gesamtschirm des Kabels, sofern vorhanden,
liegt fest auf einem separaten
Kontakt des Multipin Steckers und ist mit
dem Gehäuse verbunden. Die Wege
MON / REC können über einen Ground-
Lift Schalter oder Brückenstecker von der
Stagebox Masse (FOH) getrennt werden.
Return Wege können bei den BlueLine
Pro, DrumLink Pro und msd Systemen
gezielt durch Ground-Lift Schalter von
anderen Massen getrennt werden.
Erdungskonzept

Bei Stagebox Systemen erfolgt die
Erdung der Boxengehäuse
■ über den Gesamtgeflechtschirm des
Multicore Kabels (sofern vorhanden)
durch einen am XLR-Spleiss verfügbaren
Schirmanschluss
- neu: Klinkenstecker, nur Masseanschluss
belegt - der über eine beliebige,
freie 6,35mm Klinkenbuchse am FOH
Mischpult geerdet werden kann
und zusätzlich
■ über die Audiomasse des Kanals 1.

Cables without overall braided shield are
more flexible, but offer less effective
protection, particularly against low-frequency
interference. Cables with overall braided
shields are recommended for cable drums
and longer cable lengths.
KLOTZ a-i-s multicore systems can be used
with up to three cable types depending on
the system:

galvanic (direct current) separation of
FOH and MON or REC paths.

This is the most effective way of
preventing ground loops, since
potential separation is also guaranteed
for balanced (e.g. electrically balanced)
inputs and outputs.

Zur galvanischen (gleichstrommäßigen)
Trennung von FOH und MON bzw. REC
Wegen ist für BlueLine und msd
Systeme die Ausrüstung mit Split Trafos
möglich.
Die Wege von der Stagebox zu FOH
werden direkt verbunden, die
Verbindungen zu MON und / oder REC
werden über Trafos geführt und somit
galvanisch getrennt. Dies ist beste
Möglichkeit Brummschleifen zu vermeiden,
da auch bei erdsymmetrischen
(z.B. elektrisch symmetrierten) Ein- und
Ausgängen die Potentialtrennung
gewährleistet ist. KLOTZ a-i-s Split
Trafos sind so dimensioniert, dass bei
Norm Abschlüssen keine Pegelverluste
auftreten.
