dreifachgestrichenes Papier mit einer entsprechenden
Abdeckung des Rohpapiers. Bei der Satinage
werden Heißkalander für glänzende Papiere und
Mattkalander für Satinpapiere eingesetzt.
In Gratkorn werden vorwiegend Formatpapiere
hergestellt. Das heißt, fast alles wird von Querschneidern
auf Paletten geschnitten und in die
gesamte Welt versandt.

In 1997 PM 11 was launched, being the largest
production unity at that time. Having lost that
position meanwhile, PM 11 is still outstanding concerning
costs and quality according to its size and its
integrated cellulose mill. This pre-eminence has been
ensured by a number of technical and technological
innovations from the very beginning, which reach from a
special cellulose dissolving process that balances the fluctuation
of the individual suppliers to the use of a special
gapformer that facilitates high speed and equilateral
sheet structures. In this area the three-component retention
system, which was developed especially for PM 11 by
the ACAT company, is used as well.
In PM 11, two coaters, especially constructed for this purpose,
are installed for online pre-application, a fact which
ensures much higher order capacities by considerably better
raw paper coverage than a conventional blade application.

In der Folge Produktionsleiter der PM 11
noch lange kein Spitzenprodukt herstellen, wenn
nicht die Mannschaft entsprechend trainiert und
motiviert ist. Teamwork wird deshalb in Gratkorn
groß geschrieben und eine laufende Weiterbildung
der Mitarbeiter gefördert. Mit dieser Mannschaft
wird die Anlage laufend weiterentwickelt, technische
Neuerungen werden erprobt, neue Rohstoffe
und Rezepturen getestet, Energie wird eingespart -
das Papiermacherleben erfordert eine ständige
Veränderung um auf dem Weltmarkt konkurrenzfähig
zu bleiben.

As a matter of fact, the worldwide best technology is not
able to guarantee top quality if the staff is not appropriately
trained and motivated. Thus, the Sappi Company
Gratkorn attaches much importance to teamwork as well
as to the further training of its employees. The highly
motivated and competent staff continuously develop the
installations, try out innovations, and test new raw materials
and mixtures, thus saving energy.
