From the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g it was clear, that the old farmhouse was too small and<br />
not appropriate for the <strong>in</strong>stitution’s idea of comprehensive care. In 1873<br />
the first home explicitly designed for the <strong>in</strong>stitutional aims could be<br />
opened. Its name was “<strong>Bethel</strong>” - House of God. It had 140 places for men,<br />
women and children with epilepsy. They lived there <strong>in</strong> family-like groups<br />
with 8 -10 persons.<br />
