OLYMPIC GAMES 1964 AND 1976 IN INNSBRUCK
In the Olympic winter games of 1964, Innsbruck showed its progressive side: for
the fi rst time ever artifi cial ice was used for a bob run. In order to be prepared for
potential warm weather and wind, over 20,000 cubic meters of snow was provided
for the slopes of Axamer Lizum. More than one million spectators watched the
Olympic competitions live!
OLYMPIA 1964 UND 1976

Zur Olympiade 1964 gab sich
Innsbruck fortschrittlich: Zum
ersten Mal wurde Kunsteis für
eine Bobbahn verwendet, gegen
Fön und Wärme hatte man
vorsorglich 20.000 Kubikmeter
Schnee für die Pisten in der
Axamer Lizum bereitgestellt.
Bei der Zeitmessung wurden die
Hundertstelsekunden eingeführt.
Übrigens wurde auch das
Olympische Feuer zum ersten
Mal in Olympia entzündet.
Und: Bei den Zuschauerzahlen
wurde die Eine-Million-Marke
geknackt!
