Knobel confirms the old saying: ‘What
goes around, comes around’
Karl Knobel began our
remodeling business in
his basement in 1933. As
the business grew, he built
a three-car garage on his
property, using it as material
storage, a warehouse
and a workshop. When
the business, the number
of employees and the variety
of products and innovations
grew, he built a
showroom with an office
and a large workshop with
warehouse space.
For several years, the
warehouse/workshop was
used mostly to fabricate
Corian kitchen and bath
counter tops, as well as our
normal kitchen and bath
business, which includes
partial and full makeover
projects. Once again, the
variety of products and
their manufactures grew
in number and size. It became
a necessary service
to our clients, as they made
their product choices, to
assist them at some of the
huge showrooms dedicated
to only selling the vast
variety of products that
are now available. So our
business downsized, and
the result was a smaller
showroom without a workshop/warehouse
space.
Now, we have determined
that for a more efficient
and economic operation,
we require even less
space. Therefore, as of Jan.
1, 2018, we are leaving the
building that Karl built in
1948 and moving into an
office space at 1150 Wilmette
Ave., Suite A. It’s
not a garage, and is bigger
than a small basement. It is
the evolution of our business
model. With the help
of computers, smartphones
and the like, we are able
to continue to design, sell
and install beautiful and
functional kitchens and
bathrooms that meet the
individual needs of our clients.
We are still developing
and maintaining lasting
relationships with our
clients, who continue to
recommend us to friends
and neighbors, and we are
still available for free estimates
