22ndCenturyMedia.com camp guide 2 22nd century media | March 8, 2018 | 9 Make lasting memories at Lake Forest Parks and Recreation summer camps Lake Forest Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of summer camp experiences right here in our community with flexible schedules, affordable pricing and a reputation that is second to none. From traditional, super fun day camps to sports, nature, dance, art and technology, we have a camp for every child. Registration opens March 6 for residents and March 13 for non-residents. View our brochure and register online at www.LFParksandRec.com, or stop by the Recreation Center. New this year, we are proud to offer extended day camp. To accommodate working or busy parents, campers can stay an extra three hours (or until picked up) and enjoy activities such as crafts, games, sports and more! Extended Day Camp will be located at Deerpath Middle School, an ideal location for McCormick and All Stars campers. Campers can be picked up any time before 6 p.m. Our traditional day camps, which include Summer Discovery, Everett Explorers, McCormick and All Stars, are for children ages 3-12 and are offered from one week to eight weeks, so you can customize your summer camp schedule to fit your family’s summer plans. Many of our camps offer the opportunity to participate in weekly trips to the beach, and campers enjoy multiple field trips throughout the summer. Adventure Camp provides an all-day, outdoor camp experience for six weeks, or in two-week increments. This year, our sport-specific camps include sailing, golf, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, football, gymnastics and volleyball. We also offer STEM. camps, which include robotics, Minecraft, 3-D design and printing, augmented reality, and more. Our beloved Twigs Camp is back and better than ever with an emphasis on art (including ceramics, drawing and painting), theater and dance. Dance Me a Story camps for ages 3-7 will have your tiny dancer twirling to the music of “Mary Poppins” and “The Wizard of Oz.” At our new So You Think You Can Dance Camp, campers ages 6-9 can get into the groove and explore a new style of dance each day. Wildlife camps are always a favorite and the Wildlife Discovery Center is one of the best places for kids to learn about animals and nature as they study and observe local wildlife along the Middlefork Savana. Daily interaction with the WDC animals provides children with the opportunity to learn animal handling basics and much more. For older kids who are currently in grades 7-10 or are 13-15 years old, our popular Counselor in Training volunteer program offers the opportunity to develop leadership skills through summer work experience. The many skills learned by the CIT will aid them in possibly obtaining future paying job opportunities.
