LET FORGIVNESS OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLE
Forgiveness, I think is the need of
the hour for strong and healthy society,
family, friendship and association involving
human relationship. If we accept the saying
that !No one is perfect then we also ought
to accept the fact that committing mistake
is a part of one s life and thus forgiveness
becomes essential principle of life. If there
were no forgiveness and God has to punish
for our each and every misdeeds, I hope,
today, no one would be here on this Earth.
Forgiveness is the
renunciation or cessation of resentment,
indignation or anger as a result of a
perceived offense, disagreement, or
mistake, or ceasing to demand punishment
or restitution.The Oxford English
Dictionary defines forgiveness as !to grant
free pardon and to give up all claim on
account of an offense or debt .
Forgiveness can be defined as the
foregoing of resentment or revenge when
the wrongdoer s actions deserve it.
Forgiveness is a very subjective theme and
everyone has there own idea on who should
and who should not be forgiven.
Forgiveness can encompass many different
things, from merely accepting someone s
apology to helping them to find there way
out of the situation they put themselves
in.When you forgive, you in no way change
the past - but you sure do change the future.
Forgiveness is a virtue of the brave. I can
forgive, but I cannot forget, is only another
way of saying, I will not forgive.
Forgiveness ought to be like a cancelled note
- torn in two, and burned up, so that it never
can be shown against one.
- James Doujapao Haokip
You will know that forgiveness has begun
when you recall those who hurt you and
feel the power to wish them well.
Forgiveness is a funny thing. It warms the
heart and cools the sting. To be a
Christian means to forgive the inexcusable
because God has forgiven the inexcusable
in The truth is, unless you let go, unless
you forgive yourself, unless you forgive
the situation, unless you realize that the
situation is over, you cannot move
forward.
I think, that to be able to
forgive others, you have to first be able
to forgive yourself. By this I mean that if
you feel guilty about something, you have
to be able to accept that you made a
mistake, but you also have to then carry
on and move forward. If you cannot
forgive yourself, you will constantly be
berate yourself and you won t be able to
leave the past behind. Of course, you have
to learn from the mistakes you made and
endeavor never to repeat them, but it s not
necessary to constantly berate yourself
over something that has already happened
and cannot be changed. Often, we are the
last people to forgive ourselves. In my
opinion, once you realize that you have
spent enough time making yourself feel
bad about something you have done, it
becomes clear that quite often, others have
long since forgiven you.
Forgiving others is a very
subjective and complicated process.
Everyone has their own set of morals and
ethics, which means that everyone has a
different view of what can be forgiven
