Ms. Khainzan holds a post-graduate degree in Food Safety,<br />

She wrote her dissertation on “Preventative Measures to<br />

Ensure Food Safety from Microtoxic Contaminants of<br />

National Dairy Products in Mongolia.” She has also served as<br />

a food quality <strong>and</strong> safety inspector, director of the state<br />

inspectorate of food production <strong>and</strong> tourism, <strong>and</strong> national<br />

coordinator <strong>for</strong> the "Improving Nutrition <strong>for</strong> Poor Mothers<br />

<strong>and</strong> Children in Central Asia" project from 2002 to 2005.<br />

<strong>for</strong> the Human Physiology Department of Tbilisi State<br />

Kazakhstan <strong>School</strong> of Public Health. Malika holds a Master`s<br />

degree in Public Health from Hebrew University-Hadassah in<br />

Jerusalem <strong>and</strong> a diploma in Medicine from Kazakh State<br />

Company. He has also worked as a team leader in Malaria <strong>and</strong><br />

HIV projects of Medecins Sans Frontiers-France <strong>and</strong> Aide<br />

Médicale Internationale, respectively, mobilizing participation<br />

at the grassroots level.

Ms. MacLean has worked as a volunteer project leader in<br />

Northern Peru <strong>and</strong> most recently with the Canada Africa<br />

Community Health Alliance in Gabon, where she<br />

coordinated a medical mission to rural areas in partnership<br />

with Canadian <strong>and</strong> Gabonese health care workers. Ali holds<br />

a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor<br />

in Economics from Acadia University. She wrote her<br />

honours thesis on AIDS Activism in Africa.<br />

Ms. Nyamupachitu worked as a women <strong>and</strong> youth projects<br />

program assistant <strong>for</strong> the American Friends Service Committee,<br />

where she undertook duties such as planning program activities<br />

<strong>for</strong> women <strong>and</strong> youth, <strong>and</strong> creating <strong>and</strong> managing program<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation. Theresa also assisted in institutionalizing the<br />

Africa Youth Initiative Network (AYINET, <strong>for</strong>merly a youth<br />

project <strong>for</strong> the American Friends Service Committee), as an<br />

independent organization. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree<br />

position of technical officer <strong>for</strong> a Ministry of Health<br />

initiative titled “Health Sector Strategic Master Plan”. She<br />

also worked as an epidemiologist <strong>for</strong> the Ministry of<br />

Health’s Department of Surveillance <strong>and</strong> <strong>Management</strong> of<br />

Infectious Diseases. Ariuntuya received a Bachelor of<br />

Science degree in Medicine <strong>and</strong> a Master of Science degree<br />

in Epidemiology.<br />

Spanish in Washington, DC. She also traveled to Argentina to<br />

participate in community development at a small NGO. She<br />

holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology <strong>and</strong> teaches yoga in<br />

Ms. Qawas, a Ford Foundation/Cairo Fellow, worked as a staff<br />

nurse in the Medical Ward of the Johns Hopkins Bay View<br />

Medical Center. She was responsible <strong>for</strong> providing medical care<br />

to patients <strong>and</strong> coordinating <strong>and</strong> delegating patient care. Prior to<br />

working at Johns Hopkins, Nadia was a staff nurse at the Arab<br />

Medical Center in Amman, Jordan. She received a Bachelor of<br />

Science degree in Nursing.

Ms. Rwiyereka, a scholarship recipient from the Rw<strong>and</strong>a<br />

Ministry of Health, received a diploma in General Medicine.<br />

Her latest development work was with the Ministry of Health<br />

in Rw<strong>and</strong>a, where she served as a health coordinator <strong>for</strong> the<br />

UN Millennium Villages Project in Bugesera, a very poor<br />

<strong>and</strong> rural area. She also worked as a project manager <strong>for</strong> the<br />

Ministry of Youth, Culture, <strong>and</strong> Sports.<br />

Mr. Sah comes to the M.S. program from the World Health<br />

Organization, specifically the Program <strong>for</strong> Immunization <strong>and</strong><br />

Preventable Diseases in Lahan, Nepal. He held the position of<br />

surveillance medical officer, <strong>and</strong> coordinated training <strong>and</strong><br />

technical assistance to promote polio eradication activities.<br />

Binod also worked on the collection of data <strong>for</strong> other diseases,<br />

such as measles <strong>and</strong> rubella. He holds Bachelor’s degree in<br />

Medicine <strong>and</strong> Surgery.<br />

her M.A. degree in 2006. Maniola interned with the<br />

Department of Gender <strong>and</strong> HIV/AIDS at UNDP/Rw<strong>and</strong>a <strong>and</strong><br />

served as a program assistant <strong>for</strong> the Swedish International<br />

Development Cooperation Agency, Canadian International<br />

Development Agency, <strong>and</strong> CARE International in<br />

Albania. She also volunteered <strong>for</strong> a variety of community <strong>and</strong><br />

health initiatives involved in family planning <strong>and</strong> services <strong>for</strong><br />

the disabled. Maniola also holds a Bachelor degree in<br />

Health <strong>and</strong> Welfare, Inc. based in Cambridge, MA. She has<br />

worked with, consulted, developed, <strong>and</strong> co-founded other<br />

international NGOs operating in Georgia, Russia, Nicaragua,<br />

Colombia, Nepal, <strong>and</strong> Ug<strong>and</strong>a. She has extensive travel <strong>and</strong><br />

international development experience with a focus<br />

on preventive health <strong>and</strong> dental services, <strong>and</strong> education <strong>for</strong><br />

orphaned <strong>and</strong> street children in institutionalized settings.<br />

Ms. Utami, an IIE/Ford Foundation International Fellow, most<br />

recently worked as a program manager <strong>for</strong> the Talenta Foundation,<br />

an NGO concerned with the issues facing people with disabilities.<br />

Risnawati specialized in the education <strong>and</strong> promotion of sexuality<br />

<strong>and</strong> reproductive rights <strong>for</strong> people with disabilities. During that<br />

time she also volunteered with the United Nations-Economic <strong>Social</strong><br />

Commission promoting a barrier-free environment <strong>for</strong> people<br />

with disabilities. Ms. Utami holds a degree in Law.
