MEMORIAL LECTURES<br />

The Aggrey-Fraser-Guggisberg Memorial Lectures were instituted in 1957 to commemorate<br />

the contribution made to the founding <strong>of</strong> Achimota College and the advancement <strong>of</strong> education,<br />

particularly higher education, in <strong>Ghana</strong>. The Lectures, a series <strong>of</strong> five given on five<br />

consecutive days, have become a great event to which the <strong>Ghana</strong>ian public looks forward. It<br />

is, indeed, the most prestigious lecture series and the high-point <strong>of</strong> the intellectual calendar <strong>of</strong><br />

the country. It has been the practice to leave the lecturer free to choose a THEME and the<br />

TOPICS for the lecture. The list <strong>of</strong> Memorial Lecturers and the subjects covered, so far, are:<br />
