LADIES AOH:
We had a wonderful day for our annual trip to
Our Lady of Knock Shrine on 8/21. The East
Durham Ladies and Men made us feel welcome
as always. I’d like to thank the members who
were able to make the trip, plus the Columbiettes
and other friends. The more the merrier.
Congratulations to Matt Nelligan and his Irish
2000 Music & Arts Festival Committee for putting
on such a great weekend. Even though it
was a little cold Saturday at the Altamont Fair
Grounds, it didn’t deter anyone from having a
good time. I also heard Friday night and the after
party at the Hall Saturday night had great turn
outs.
Many thanks for the support of the Ladies Division
at the Fr. Peyton Dance. This dance was
started by my mother Celia Leonard over 35
years ago and continues strong with your support.
It’s a great night of entertainment and seeing
old friends.
On Sunday, 11/4, Maureen Jeffers will be hosting
our Annual Mass for Albany County deceased
AOH/LAOH members. Mass will be
9:30 at the Holy Family Parish (St. Patrick’s
Church). There will be a light breakfast back at
the hall following the mass. Contact Maureen at
489-7954 if you would like to attend the gathering
after mass.
Remember, we serve lunch the first Thursday of
each month for Paul Collins group and our senior
members. We can use help either Wednesday
night for setting up or Thursday. If you are
available please call me or Maggie Gilroy at 458-
7993. It would be nice to give the small group of
hard working “regulars” a break.
Election of Officers is in November. If you want
to run for office you must have attended 6 meetings
between Jan 10 and Nov 14. To vote you
need 4 meetings. If you are interested in running
for office let Karen Keane at 456-8783. All Officers
seats are up for election. Competition is
good.
Lots going on at the CDIAC, please read the
newsletter or check the web site.
Yours in our Motto,
