Maternus introduces a very brief set of planet-based rules for the Ruler of the Chart. Some<br />
are so brief to warrant <strong>on</strong>ly a phrase (e.g., for Mars “they have red hair <strong>and</strong> bloodshot eyes…”).<br />
In a separate secti<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> planets c<strong>on</strong>junct the Ascendant degree, Maternus in passing menti<strong>on</strong>s the<br />
following for Mars: “In a morning rising without aspect of Jupiter he will make them darkcomplexi<strong>on</strong>ed,<br />
rather tall, willing to give more than their income allows.” Similar aphorisms for<br />
other planets c<strong>on</strong>junct the Ascendant degree are omitted.<br />
