Welcome to the 2011 Bulldog Rear End / <strong>DMI</strong> Racing Components Product Guide.<br />
2010 was a very good year for <strong>Diversified</strong> <strong>Machine</strong>.<br />
It seems the release of our Bulldog CT-1 was just what the racers were waiting for. The response has<br />
been fantastic. It was really exciting everyday seeing who the next call would be looking to buy the<br />
product. It’s always a great feeling when a new racer or dealer joins the <strong>DMI</strong> family. It lets you know<br />
that the hard work and pride that we try to put into every product does not go unnoticed. As the year<br />
progressed, a real who’s who of racers were using the product. Some great CT-1 moments during<br />
the year was the first victory, courtesy of Don O’Neal in the Mastersbilt house car, sweeping the top<br />
4 positions at the Victoria 200 dirt modified race, winning the prestigious Eastern States 200 with Tim<br />
McCreadie and sweeping the Knoxville Late Model Nationals with Billy Moyer. See, in case you didn’t<br />
know, we’re kind of competitive here at <strong>DMI</strong>/Bulldog. We want our products to win as much as you want<br />
to win. It’s why we work so hard to not only build a great product but make it user friendly so you can<br />
spend your time before the main event picking the right tires and springs and not fighting with your quick<br />
change. Getting to victory lane, isn’t that what it’s all about? When you’re at the track in 2011 and see a<br />
late model or modified in victory lane, take a peak underneath, there is a good chance that it will have a<br />
Bulldog Rear under it.<br />
On the open tube side for 2010 we redesigned the “ironman” of the Bulldog lineup, the XR-1. We made<br />
it even more user friendly and incorporated many of the same ideas we used on our XR-2, the rear that<br />
shocked the industry when it was released for the 2009 racing season. Now for the 2011 season, we<br />
have redesigned the XR-2 to feature more strength in the snout area while maintaining the size and<br />
weight savings the design provides. Also for 2011, we have two new rears in the lineup, the SMXR-1<br />
for super modified racing and the much anticipated BB-1 for midget racing. We are very proud of both<br />
products and fell they are the nicest rears available in either market.<br />
We also spent a great deal of 2010 developing and testing new products for the <strong>DMI</strong> line. Some of the<br />
new items released during 2010 or for the 2011 season are the 2K11 line of u-joints, the “Big Unit” torque<br />
tube, fabricated tubular driveshaft, redesigned torque ball housings and open driveline components.<br />
Our minds never stop thinking of better ways to produce lighter, faster and safer components. We have<br />
also added stainless sprint car bumpers to our line and have become a stocking W.D. and authorized<br />
re-builder and re-valver for Pro Shocks.<br />
As you can tell, we’ve been busy. We’ve been busy because we feel an obligation to you,<br />
our customer, to continue to be the leaders in research and development of new racing<br />
components for short track racing. Sure, copying parts might be easier, but developing<br />
and producing new cutting-edge components is something only an American driven<br />
company like <strong>DMI</strong>/Bulldog can handle. It’s a job we take seriously.<br />

The CT-1 was introduced for the 2010 racing season using the same<br />
concepts and features that made our open tube rears the strongest,<br />
most reliable and user friendly rears in the industry. The CT-1 quickly<br />
became the choice of top late model and modified racers. The CT-1<br />
is built with the standard equipment most of our competition call<br />
options. The CT-1 is available in 4.86 or 4.12 ratios. Compare the CT-1<br />

The CT-1 Modified is available as a complete modified package.<br />
The complete kit is available in 4.86 or 4.12 ring and pinion. The<br />
package includes steel tubes, solid axles, Gn 5x5 hubs with steel<br />
drive flange, 11.75” rotor and all the standard features of the CT-1.<br />

addition of three ribs and added material on the internal casting.<br />
Stevie Smith, Gary Wright and Dale Blaney are some of the drivers<br />
who take advantage of the weight savings and performance offered<br />
by the XR-2.<br />
for 2011, the XR-2 is also available in aluminum. The aluminum<br />
version weighs less than 2 lbs. more than the XR-1 rear and is super<br />
strong!<br />

There are a few important things you should know to get the most out of the CT-1 quick change.<br />
Here are a few tips.<br />
Oil<br />
Fill rear end through the large inspection plug on the right side. The oil should just cover the lower shaft. The rear<br />
is equipped with a fill level plug just below the large inspection plug. Fill rear until the oil runs out of the level plug.<br />
Please be sure to check the oil level often and after every gear change. We also recommend the use of a high<br />
quality gear lube, such as BullDog Blood by Champion Racing XP Synthetic or Joe Gibbs 75W110 Gear Oil.<br />
(We stand behind premature failure/pitting only if using BullDog Blood.)<br />
Torque Specs and Rear Settings<br />

Squaring the Rear Axle:<br />
There are many different ways to square the rear end<br />
depending upon mechanical preference and comfort. This<br />
is one popular technique utilized by many professional<br />
teams. Place the rear end in the chassis and bolt up the<br />
torque tube. Set the axles on 6" blocks if it’s a standard<br />
chassis, 5" on the left side and 6" on the right if it’s a raised<br />
rail car. Secure the birdcages with spacers and the wheel<br />
nuts. Measure the distance from the rear round machined<br />
portion of the torque tube to the outer edge of the chassis<br />
by placing a straight edge vertically against the frame.<br />
Center the rear end by equalizing this distance on both<br />
sides of the car. This distance should measure between 10<br />
1/8" and 10 ¼". Now with the rear centered side-to-side,<br />
start with the right side and measure from the leading edge<br />
of the rear axle to the front edge of the motor plate. On a<br />
39" car this measurement is 37 5/8", 38 5/8" on a 40" car.<br />
Roll the axle forward or back on the blocks to achieve the<br />
correct distance. Once you have secured that distance on<br />
the right side check the left side. Ensuring that the rear is still<br />
centered in the frame and the right side measures correct,<br />
the left side may vary by as much as 1/8". This is generally<br />
left to lie as is. With the radius rods connected, place a level<br />
on the flat bottom portion of each bird cage and adjust the<br />
rods so that each cage is level with the bottom frame rail.<br />
Now bring your rear arms up to each bird cage flag and<br />
adjust each rod end so that the lower bird cage bolts slide<br />
freely through the cage and the rod end. Having completed<br />
this, recheck all of your measurements to ensure that<br />
nothing was moved during the previous processes. If all<br />
measures correct bring your jacobs ladder to the rod end<br />
or clevis and adjust the rod end or clevis in or out so that<br />
the bolt also slides freely. With these operations complete<br />
check your work by ensuring the torque ball is free and the<br />
jacobs ladder is not bound. Now you are ready for race<br />
height setup blocks and stops.<br />
Squaring the Front Axle:<br />
Set the front axle on 4" set-up blocks, or 3" and 4" if it<br />
is a raised rail car. Offset the axle 1" to the left side by<br />
adjusting the sway bar. This gives clearance to the left front<br />
torsion arm and combo steering arm. Measure 14" from<br />
the center of the right front torsion tube to the center of<br />
the axle on both sides. After roughing in the radius rods to<br />
this measurement, measure from the leading edge of the<br />
rear axle (still on 6" blocks) to the rear edge of the front<br />
axle on the rightside. After having gained this measurement<br />
we will set the lead. Check the left side the same way and<br />
adjust the rod length so that the left measurement is equal<br />
to or up to ¼" set back depending upon driver preference<br />
and size of track. With the axle now square we can adjust<br />
the caster. Place an angle fi nder on the right front steering<br />
arm. Adjust the top right front radius rod so that the angle<br />
reads anywhere from 6 to 10 degrees. Again this is driver<br />
preference, some drivers like more positive feel in the front<br />
end than others. With this complete you can drop the axle<br />
down to race height set-up blocks and adjust the stops.<br />
Don’t forget to set the tow. An 1/8" of tow out is generally<br />
the norm.<br />

Buyer shall have no remedy for any loss, damage, expense or claim of any kind, directly or indirectly arising out of<br />
or related to any products manufactured or sold by <strong>Diversified</strong> <strong>Machine</strong>, <strong>Inc</strong>. for use in motor vehicles (collectively,<br />
“automobile parts”). Buyer’s sole and exclusive remedy for any loss, damage expense or claim of any kind, directly<br />
or indirectly arising out of or relating to any products manufactured or sold by <strong>Diversified</strong> <strong>Machine</strong>, <strong>Inc</strong>. other than<br />
automobile parts, shall be a refund of the purchase price or the repair or replacement of the products, at <strong>Diversified</strong><br />
<strong>Machine</strong>, <strong>Inc</strong>.’s option. Buyer agrees that the price for all products manufactured or sold by <strong>Diversified</strong> <strong>Machine</strong>,<br />
<strong>Inc</strong>. takes into consideration this limitation of liability and that prices for the automobile parts and other products<br />
manufactured or sold by <strong>Diversified</strong> <strong>Machine</strong>, <strong>Inc</strong>. would be higher if this limitation of liability did not apply.<br />
TERMS OF SERVICE<br />
Form of Payment—Initial orders with <strong>Diversified</strong> <strong>Machine</strong> <strong>Inc</strong>orporated (<strong>DMI</strong>) will be C.O.D. Orders will remain C.O.D.<br />
until credit has been established and account comes up for review. Approved business checks or certified checks<br />
are an acceptable form of C.O.D. payment. Money orders are also acceptable. Once credit has been established,<br />
payment shall meet the terms and conditions of <strong>DMI</strong>. Applicable sales tax will be charged on every item which sales<br />
tax exemption certification has not been provided. Failure to comply with these terms and conditions will result in<br />
penalties and possible termination of your open account status. Returned check fees will be in compliance with<br />
bank charges assessed to <strong>DMI</strong>.<br />
Order Information—<strong>DMI</strong> requires a $50.00 minimum order. All custom or special orders are subject to an additional fee.<br />
Custom orders also require a 50% deposit at time of ordering. Orders may be placed 7 days a week, 24 hours a day via fax<br />
line 717.397.7470 or website www.sprintracecomponents.com. Phone orders will be taken during normal business hours<br />
8:00 am–5:00 pm EST Monday thru Friday. Please order using <strong>DMI</strong> assigned part numbers. All orders will be shipped F.O.B.<br />
warehouse.<br />
Foreign Orders—All foreign orders must be paid in advance, in full, in U.S. currency. Additional shipping<br />
documentation and insurance costs may be applied and are paid for by customer.<br />
Returns and Back orders—The invoice enclosed in your shipment will notify you of any items <strong>DMI</strong> had to backorder.<br />
<strong>DMI</strong> will backorder items unless requested otherwise. Backorders will usually ship within 30 days. If you wish to<br />
cancel a backorder, please contact a sales representative. The customer is responsible for a 20% restocking fee<br />
and freight charges if the backorder is cancelled after it has already shipped. Products may be exchanged for<br />
refund, credit, or exchange within 30 days of receipt. All returned items are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Should<br />
you need to return an item, please contact a sales representative for a return goods authorization number.<br />
Shipping Information—<strong>DMI</strong> ships UPS & FedEx daily. We offer all UPS & FedEx services including next-day,<br />
second-day and three-day air. All air orders must be placed prior to 1:00 pm EST. <strong>DMI</strong> charges the appropriate<br />
fees for C.O.D. and air shipments. <strong>DMI</strong> also charges a $3.50 handling charge to all packages. <strong>DMI</strong> works in<br />
accordance with current shipping rate policies. <strong>DMI</strong> reserves the right to change shipping rates in accordance<br />
with rate increases by the shipping provider. <strong>DMI</strong> also ships via common carrier upon request. Common carrier<br />
shipments must be paid in full, including freight charges, prior to the order being sent. Always check the contents of<br />
your shipment immediately upon receipt. Should any damage be evident, immediately notify the freight company.<br />
To insure prompt replacement of goods, notification of damages should be given within three days.
