They were very cumbersome and not very mobile, but they were the best you could get at the time. The invention of the transistor in 1947 by Bell Laboratories was a great help for both hearing aid users and hearing aid manufacturers. The transistor paved the way for entirely new hearing aid styles. In 1954, the first Behind-the-Ear (BTE) models became available. Technology continued to advance and intense audiological research in the field of psychoacoustics initiated a move towards more user-oriented products. This initiative resulted in a revolutionary breakthrough in 1996, when <strong>Oticon</strong> headquartered in Denmark, introduced the first fully digital hearing aid. Since that time, <strong>Oticon</strong> has continued to improve upon the design and performance of digital hearing aids, in a tireless effort to create more advanced hearing solutions. .
