The ICC provides a unique forum at the ROM to explore<br />
current cultural issues through exhibitions of art and architecture,<br />
lectures, film series and informal gatherings. The ICC also<br />
organizes exhibitions in the new Roloff Beny Gallery on the<br />
top floor of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. ICC exhibitions are<br />
listed in the Exhibitions section. Below are programs and events<br />
organized by the ICC.<br />
Scotiabank Nuit Blanche: Charles Kriel<br />
The world-famous digital video jockey premiered DSM5 on<br />
the ROM Plaza for Nuit Blanche on September 29, <strong>2007</strong>.<br />
A Return to the Place Where God Outstretched his hand<br />
As part of Shapeshifters, Time Travellers and Storytellers, Vancouverbased<br />
artist Peter Morin’s performance on October 5, <strong>2007</strong>,<br />
referenced a Tahltan transformation story as told by the artist’s<br />
grandmother.<br />
eva holtby Lecture on Contemporary Culture: The Politics of<br />
Culture, the Politics of Identity<br />
The second annual lecture was presented by Kwame Anthony<br />
Appiah, who spoke on October 12, <strong>2007</strong>, to a sold-out audience.<br />
Through the generosity of former ROM Board member Philip<br />
Holtby, the ICC presents an annual lecture named in honour<br />
of his late wife. Additional funding provided by Eva Holtby’s<br />
parents, Rudolph and Paula Schury.<br />
Séance<br />
Commissioned by imagineNATIVE and the ICC, as part of<br />
Shapeshifters, Time Travellers and Storytellers, Kent Monkman, in<br />
the guise of his infamous alter-ego Miss Chief Eagle Testickle,<br />
performed on October 19, <strong>2007</strong>. Made possible through the<br />
generous support of Partners in Art.<br />
Mark Dion at the ROM<br />
American artist Mark Dion spoke about his work and the<br />
impulse to classify and order phenomena on January 18, <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
Presented in collaboration with the Canadian Art Foundation<br />
International Lecture Series.<br />
Molly Johnson Sings<br />
In honour of Black History Month, Canada’s jazz diva<br />
performed a celebration concert on Friday February 29, <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
