With anticipation of the new EMA GPD updates building, the emphasis
is well and truly on the requirements for all 15-25 o C products to have a
temperature monitored supply chain. Over the coming year, the face of
logistics across the industry is set to change entirely.
A recent community wide survey revealed that 81% of biopharma
companies are outsourcing their ambient logistics
…with 94% saying that finding costs effective services and solutions is the
biggest challenge relating to the storage and transportation of controlled
room temperature and ambient products – I’ll send you a copy of the full
report soon.
Having said this, the visibility of finished goods flowing through the supply
chain still remains a critical issue. As well the alarming abundance of
counterfeit pharmaceutical products within both industrialised and emerging
markets has grown tremendously in the past 10 years. Couple this with the
emergence of new technologies and we see live tracking and tracing methods
being assessed and implemented at a higher rate than ever before.
The 12th annual Cool Chain Logistics Europe meeting is back in Basel
where you can address these challenges to help guide you through the new
regulatory landscape and plan your temperature controlled, secure supply
chain strategy!
