PlanET Hygienisation
More power for your biogas plant
A hygienisation is required when you want to digest animal by-products, slaughterhouse
waste and food waste in your biogas plant. These so-called co-substrates are usually rich in
fats and sugar, hence a highly efficient source of energy for your biogas plant.
By utilising co-substrates, a high gas yield can be achieved with comparatively small digester
volumes, because co-substrates digest quicker than e.g. manure or energy crops.
The liquefied co-substrates must be heated to 70°C and kept at this temperature for a duration
of 60 minutes, before being fed into the biogas plant. After heating for the required duration
the pre-treated substrates are fed into the
digester with a rotary lobe pump.
After hygienisation the digestate is fully PAS
110 compliant* and can be utilised as highly
valuable fertiliser on agricultural land.
