The Hans Selye Foundati<strong>on</strong> (M<strong>on</strong>treal, Quebec, Canada) selected Professor Mary Dallman as a recipient of<br />

the 2007 Hans Selye Memorial Distinguished Lecture Award. She has received this award after W. Vale<br />

(1994), G.P. Chrousos (1997), M. Palkovics (1998), J. Rivier (2000), F. Holsboer (2002) and S. Szabo (2004).<br />

Mary Dallman graduated at the Smith College from chemistry and obtained her PhD at the Stan<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>d<br />

University from physiology. She was a postdoctoral fellow in Stockholm and at the University of Cali<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>nia at<br />

San Francisco. From 1970 she is a member of the Faculty at UCSF. Prof. Dallman served as a member of<br />

NIH Study Secti<strong>on</strong>s of the NRC Committee <strong>on</strong> Space Biology & Medicine; and participated in NIH<br />

Workshops & Working Groups <strong>on</strong> Perimenopause, Drug Abuse, Stress & CVD and Alzheimer’s disease. She<br />

was an editor of two secti<strong>on</strong>sof the American Journal of Physiology and Endocrinology and served as<br />

member of the editorial boards of the journals Steroids, Journal of Neurosciences, Stress and Molecular<br />

Psychiatry. Prof. Dallman had several Awards and h<strong>on</strong>ors including a membership in the council of the APS<br />

Endocrinology & Metabolism and the Endocrine Society. She was the president of the Women in<br />

Endocrinology secti<strong>on</strong> of the Internati<strong>on</strong>al Society of Neuroendocrinology. She obtained a Fogarty Travel<br />

Fellowship; the MT J<strong>on</strong>es Prize from the British Neuroendocrine Society; the Levine Lectureship from the<br />

University of Trier; a Lectureship from the Brain <str<strong>on</strong>g>Research</str<strong>on</strong>g> Institute in Amsterdam; and the Lifetime<br />

Achievement Award of the Internati<strong>on</strong>al Society of Psych<strong>on</strong>euroendocrinology.
