spirits of two great serpents. One of the oldest monasteries in the<br />
region, Lamaruyu is set against a stark landscape making views spell<br />

Day 07 Lamayuru - Themisgam ( 40 Kms / 1 Hrs )<br />
This morning, leave for Themisgam. You will visit<br />
the ruins of the fortress before heading to the<br />
Themisgam Monastery. The barren and<br />
remote setting of the monastery<br />
makes this visit an unforgettable<br />
one. Overnight in Themisgam.<br />
Day 08 Themisgam -<br />
Uleytokpo ( 35 Kms / 1 Hrs )<br />
After breakfast, you will leave<br />
for Uleytokpo, en-route you will<br />
visit the Ridzong Monastery and<br />
the Thardot Cheoling Nunnery.<br />
The monastery is very isolated and<br />
the monastic community follows strict<br />
rules and regulations. This Gelugpa (yellow<br />
h a t )<br />
monastery is about<br />
120 years old and contains<br />
beautiful wall paintings.<br />
The nunnery is home to<br />
about 30 nuns. Since the<br />
nunnery is so remote, the<br />
nuns live an austere life.<br />

RIDZONG MONASTERY<br />
Day 09 Uleytokpo - Leh<br />
(75 Kms / 3 Hrs )<br />
This morning after breakfast head back to Leh; en-route you will<br />
visit Alchi. The Alchi Gompa is renowned and celebrated<br />
monastery in Ladakh. Built in the 11th century, the monastery is<br />
famous for its paintings and architecture. On arrival in Leh you will<br />
have the evening at leisure. Overnight in Leh.<br />
Day 10 Leh - Nubra ( 128 Kms / 6 Hrs )<br />
This morning after breakfast, head for the Nubra Valley. This valley<br />
of flowers is perhaps the most inexplicably beautiful place you can<br />
visit. Once a trading route through the Karakoram ranges from<br />

Day 11 Nubra - Leh ( 128<br />
Kms / 6 Hrs )<br />

morning<br />
you will head<br />
to Leh with a<br />
packed lunch; en route<br />
you will visit Diskit. This is one of the<br />
larger villages of the region, and is dotted<br />
with apricot plantations. It is famous for its<br />
350-year-old Gompa - the oldest and largest<br />
monastery in the Nubra Valley. It belongs to<br />
the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan<br />
Buddhism. Nearby, there is a 100 foot tall<br />

statue of Maitreya Buddha at the Shyok<br />
River, facing towards Pakistan as a symbol of<br />
world peace. Also visit the picturesque<br />

village of Sumur. You will see a<br />
stretch of beautiful sand dunes.<br />
The region is also the only place<br />
in <strong>India</strong> where you will find the<br />
double humped camel.<br />

Day 12 Leh / Delhi<br />
Early morning, leave for the<br />
airport to catch your flight for<br />
Delhi. On arrival in Delhi, visit<br />
the Jama Masjid, which is the<br />
largest and perhaps the bestknown<br />
mosque in <strong>India</strong>. Commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan,<br />
and completed in 1656, the courtyard of the mosque can hold about<br />
25,000 worshippers. Also visit <strong>India</strong> Gate, one of the largest war<br />
memorials in <strong>India</strong>, designed by Edward Lutyens. Evening at<br />
leisure. After dinner, head to the airport to board your flight to your<br />
onward destination.
