Day 09 Kaziranga - Sivasagar - Dibrugarh ( 220 Kms / 5 Hrs )<br />

This morning you will head to Dibrugarh; enroute you will stop at<br />

Sivasagar and visit the Ahom monuments and<br />

temples. The Ahoms ruled Assam for almost<br />

600 years until the arrival of the British. A<br />

cluster of structures built by the Ahoms still<br />

survive and include a palace, temples, tanks and<br />

amphitheatre. You will have lunch at Sivasagar<br />

before continuing your journey to Dibrugarh.<br />

On arrival, you will have the evening free to<br />

relax. Overnight at Dibrugarh.<br />

Day 10 Dibrugarh<br />

Early this morning, head to the Jokai Reserve<br />

Forest. This forest is full of interesting birdlife<br />

and has a meandering stream that adds to its<br />

charm. Post breakfast, take tour around a tea<br />

estate and soak in the luscious greenery and<br />

serenity around you. Later, head to the<br />

TEA GARDEN<br />

riverfront for a boat cruise on the mighty<br />

Brahmaputra River. The cruise will take you up<br />

to a river island in the midst of the Brahmaputra. En route you will<br />

see flocks of migratory birds, and perhaps even the elusive Gangetic<br />

River Dolphin. Overnight at Dibrugarh.<br />

Day 11 Dibrugarh - Wakro (190 Kms/4 Hrs )<br />

This morning you will head to Wakro; En-route, visit the village of<br />

Empong to see the<br />

Khampti tribes. The<br />

Khampti's are thought to<br />

be the descendants of the<br />

Tai Ahoms who<br />

migrated from Thailand<br />

in the early 13th century.<br />

You will also visit the<br />

Buddhist Gompa here,<br />

KHAMPTI TRIBE MISHIMI TRIBE which is the largest of the<br />

kind in the region.<br />

Overnight in Wakro.<br />

Day 12 Wakro<br />

This morning, visit the local Mishmi tribal villages including Kanjan,<br />

TAMARIND<br />

TOURS<br />

Thomba and Pukhuri. You will learn about the Mishmis, a tribe of<br />

nature worshippers, and one of the Mongoloid tribes of Indo-<br />

Burmese origins. The tribals<br />

have a unique style and<br />

language. Also visit<br />

Parasuramkund, which is<br />

considered a holy pilgrimage<br />

site for Hindus… thousands of<br />

pilgrims come here every year<br />

to take a dip in the Lohit River,<br />

especially in the month of<br />

January. Overnight in Wakro.<br />

Day 13 Wakro - Dibrugarh ( HANDLOOM PRODUCTS<br />

190 Kms / 4 Hrs This morning,<br />

return to Dibrugar; On arrival, visit the local<br />

market and temple. You will also visit a<br />

weaving center. Weaving is a common<br />

household activity in the region and a visit to<br />

the centre will show you how local patterns<br />

are woven and articles are made. Overnight in<br />

Dibrugarh.<br />

Day 14 Dibrugarh / Delhi<br />

This morning you will have breakfast and<br />

have some time at leisure. Later, head to the<br />

airport to catch your flight to Delhi.<br />

Overnight in Delhi.<br />

Day 15 Delhi<br />

After breakfast, visit Jama Masjid- the largest<br />

mosque in <strong>India</strong>, commissioned by Emperor<br />

Shah Jahan. The courtyard of the mosque can<br />

accomadate about 25,000 worshippers. Take<br />

a rickshaw ride around Chandni Chowk, the busiest market in Old<br />

Delhi. Noisy, chaotic and uniquely <strong>India</strong>n, it is famous for its varied<br />

shops, restaurants and confectioners. Next, drive past the Red Fort,<br />

Rashtrapati Bhavan and several other colonial government<br />

buildings in Edwin Lutyen's Delhi before heading to Rajghat, the<br />

memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. This simple edifice marks the spot<br />

where the Mahatma was cremated in 1948. A visit to Rajghat is an<br />

innately moving experience. Later, visit Qutab Minar, which is the<br />

tallest brick minaret in the world, commissioned by Qutbuddin<br />

Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi. His successors continued to<br />

enhance the structure, with the final storey added in 1386. Post<br />

lunch, visit Humayun's tomb which was commissioned by<br />

Humayun's wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562. It was the first<br />

garden tomb built in the <strong>India</strong>n sub-continent. Post dinner, head to<br />

the airport<br />
