Since 1935, several Red Allen interviewe brought his statement, that he backed also Rev.M.Gates & Congregation and recorded
with them several sides for Victor incl. “DEAD CAT ON THE LINES". After unsuccessfull research for such recorded work, in
1966 Red Allen conceded Al McCarthy that possibly he had changed the names of the wellknown Rev.M.Gates with Rev.McGee.
Surely Red Allen is present on the following session incl. DEAD CAT ON THE LINE recorded at same date and studio after he
had recorded playing an unusually cornet-work with King Oliver. Although he had mastered the cornet-work masterly on this
Oliver session, Red´s cornet backing the congregation is weak and unfamilar for him. - In Storyville-133 Dick Spottswood repor-
ted Red´s presence on 4/15 & 7/16/30 Rev.McGee-sessions (look there), but surely without any backgrounds.
