for Skywest Airlines: four ATR 72-500s, which<br />

are already operating <strong>on</strong> Virgin Australia’s<br />

regi<strong>on</strong>al network, and nine new generati<strong>on</strong><br />

ATR 72-600s, the first of which Skywest will<br />

receive next year. This new c<strong>on</strong>tract for five<br />

ATR 72-600s also includes opti<strong>on</strong>s for eight<br />

additi<strong>on</strong>al aircraft. The list price of the agreement,<br />

including opti<strong>on</strong>s, is over $295m. Like<br />

the ATR 72-500s now operated for Virgin<br />

Australia by Skywest Airlines, all of the ATR<br />

72-600 aircraft will fly in Virgin’s new white<br />

and red colour scheme. The latest five aircraft<br />

are scheduled to be delivered from early 2013<br />

through early 2014.<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Southwest</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>order</str<strong>on</strong>g>s 150 <str<strong>on</strong>g>737</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>MAX</str<strong>on</strong>g> airplanes<br />

and 58 Next-Generati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>737</str<strong>on</strong>g>s<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Southwest</str<strong>on</strong>g> Airlines finalized a firm <str<strong>on</strong>g>order</str<strong>on</strong>g> for<br />

150 fuel-efficient <str<strong>on</strong>g>737</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>MAX</str<strong>on</strong>g> airplanes. <str<strong>on</strong>g>Southwest</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

is the first customer to finalize an <str<strong>on</strong>g>order</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

for the <str<strong>on</strong>g>737</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>MAX</str<strong>on</strong>g> and becomes the launch<br />

customer for the new LEAP-1B engine-variant.<br />

In additi<strong>on</strong>, the airline expanded its current<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>order</str<strong>on</strong>g> book with an <str<strong>on</strong>g>order</str<strong>on</strong>g> for 58 additi<strong>on</strong>al<br />

CFM56-7BE-powered Next-Generati<strong>on</strong><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>737</str<strong>on</strong>g>-800s. The firm <str<strong>on</strong>g>order</str<strong>on</strong>g> is the largest in Boeing<br />

history both in dollar value, nearly $19bn<br />

at list prices, and the number of airplanes. It<br />

supports <str<strong>on</strong>g>Southwest</str<strong>on</strong>g>’s initiative to modernize<br />

its all-Boeing fleet, the world’s largest fleet<br />

of <str<strong>on</strong>g>737</str<strong>on</strong>g>s. As the <str<strong>on</strong>g>737</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>MAX</str<strong>on</strong>g> launch customer,<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Southwest</str<strong>on</strong>g> will take delivery of the first airplane<br />

when it enters service in 2017.<br />

H80 Turboprop engine received EASA<br />

Engine Certificate<br />

GE Aviati<strong>on</strong>’s H80 turboprop engine has received<br />

type certificati<strong>on</strong> from the European<br />

Aviati<strong>on</strong> Safety Agency (EASA). This is the first<br />

GE Aviati<strong>on</strong> engine to receive its initial type<br />

certificati<strong>on</strong> from EASA. “The type certificati<strong>on</strong><br />

<strong>on</strong> the H80 engine is a significant achievement<br />

for the GE Aviati<strong>on</strong> facility in the Czech<br />

Republic al<strong>on</strong>g with the engineering teams<br />

in Evendale, Ohio, and Lynn, Massachusetts,<br />

Flying Colours delivers Challenger<br />

850 to Lily Jet of China<br />

Flying Colours, a global aviati<strong>on</strong> service<br />

company, delivered its fourth Chinese registered<br />

aircraft – a Bombardier Challenger<br />

850 business jet, Serial No. 8098 – to Shenyang<br />

based air charter company Lily Jet last<br />

m<strong>on</strong>th. The aircraft left Flying Colours’ Peterborough,<br />

Canada facility and arrived at the<br />

Lily Jet base <strong>on</strong> November 29th. The aircraft<br />

is scheduled to go into service immediately<br />

and will be available for third party charter.<br />
