If you pay attention you will notice that we are having a meeting around
a table now but we are not using that table as a table, after a certain
point during the meeting, the meeting breaks up. The tables, chairs
are pulled, the feet lose their stability. I have removed those useless
meeting tables constructed on the sides of the rooms of executives
and made different experiences with this type of meeting unit. When
the Design Manager of Nurus Renan Gökyay came into this process,
what started initially as one product gradually became a whole system.
That is the beauty of this process. These are the results of mutual
positive synergies to improve the product to better levels. I am pleased
with TO so I can easily say this.
As I have mentioned before, TO is not an alternative to other meeting
systems. I mean, I am not saying let's remove all these conference
rooms and make them similar to this one. TO is a product that will
speak to the groups who need something like this. There may be two
types of conference rooms in an office. One in fact may not need this
system. Contrary to this, TO conference room may not need the other
system also. Since the sizes of conference rooms also vary, our system
is also flexible. TO is system that will meet the needs of both face to
face meetings in the executive’s room and long and comfortable
meetings in another room.
I guess this is the expression of the simple and spare life you have
mentioned before in reference to TO. Actually, it is both a simple and
a detailed product.
That is hard part of the task. For example in a poem, you may express
many things in a quatrain but creating it is hard. I am trying to the
same thing in a way. Sometimes I can accomplish it and sometimes
not. O¤uz Aral has a saying, unnecessary scans; sometimes there are
these unnecessary scans, I am trying to lessen them and draw my
line accordingly. I guess that is why Nurus picked me. When my former
works are examined there is this type of solid view.
I like to make little surprises. When you look at the sofa in TO; when
viewed directly from the front you see a totally different thing and
when you look from the sides there is a little surprise for you. When
you take a look at my portfolio, there are always these little surprises
and some contrasts.
Dikkat ederseniz, flu anda bir masada toplant› yap›yoruz ama ço¤unlukla
o masay› masa gibi kullanm›yoruz, toplant›n›n belli bir dakikas›ndan
sonra toplant› da¤›l›yor. Masalar çekiliyor, koltuklar çekiliyor, ayaklar
sabitli¤ini kaybediyor. Ben uzun süredir yönetici odalar›n›n kenarlar›na
yap›lan o kötü toplant› masalar› kald›rm›fl ve bu tip toplant› bölümü
denemeleri yapm›flt›m. Nurus Tasar›m Yöneticisi Renan Gökyay bana
geldi¤inde tek bir ürün gibi bafllayan süreç, yavafl yavafl bu sisteme
dönüfltü. ‹flte sürecin güzelli¤i bu. Karfl›l›kl› pozitif elektri¤in, bir ürünü
daha iyiye götürme çabas›n›n sonuçlar› bu. Ben TO’dan memnunum
o yüzden bunu rahatl›kla söylüyorum.
Söyledi¤im gibi TO bütün di¤er toplant› sistemlerine alternatif bir fley
de¤il. Yani tüm toplant› salonlar›n› kald›ral›m, hepsini böyle yapal›m diye
bir fley yok. TO, buna ihtiyaç duyan gruplara hitap edecek bir ürün.
Ofiste iki tip toplant› odas› olabilir. Birinde hiç böyle bir sisteme ihtiyaç
duyulmayabilir. Tam tersi TO toplant› odas›nda da di¤er sisteme hiç
ihtiyaç duyulmayabilir. Toplant› odalar›n›n büyüklükleri de de¤ifliyor.
Bizim sistemimiz de o aç›dan esnek. Yöneticinin odas›ndaki yüzyüze
toplant›, ya da baflka bir odada rahat, uzun sürecek bir toplant› ihtiyac›n›
karfl›layacak bir sistem TO.
TO’da biraz önce bahsetti¤iniz yal›n yaflam›n bir ifadesi oluflmufl san›r›m.
Asl›nda oldukça sade ancak bir o kadar da detayl› bir ürün.
‹flin zor bölümü de bu zaten. fiiirde örne¤in bir dörtlükle çok fley ifade
edersiniz ama onu oluflturmak ne kadar da zordur. Ben de bir anlamda
ayn› fleyi yapmaya çal›fl›yorum. Baz›s›nda oluyor, baz›s›nda hiç olmuyor.
O¤uz Aral’›n bir laf› var ya, gereksiz taramalar; bazen aynen böyle gereksiz
taramalar oluyor, onlar› azaltmaya çal›fl›yorum ve bütün ürünlerimde
buraya getirmeye çal›fl›yorum çizgimi. Nurus da san›r›m beni bu yüzden
seçti. Daha önce yapt›¤›m iflleri inceleyince bu tip masif bir görüntü var.
Küçük sürprizler yapmay› seviyorum. TO’da da sofas›na bakarsan; direkt
önden bak›nca bambaflka bir fley görüyorsunuz, yana döndü¤ünüzde
küçük bir sürprizle karfl›l›yor sizi. Bütün portfolyoma bakarsan›z genelde
hep böyle küçük sürprizler, bir tak›m kontrastlar var.
