Dear Tampa Prep Friends,
Our donors once again demonstrated that
Tampa Preparatory School is a community
of committed people working together
to create a brilliant academic environment
for our students. We depend on you
to make this happen: volunteers, parents,
alumni, faculty, staff, trustees, grandparents,
and all our generous donors. This
Giving Report acknowledges and thanks
each of you who have made possible our
continued success.
The Annual Fund for Prep is the mainstay
of our fundraising efforts, supporting
Tampa Prep’s operating budget and providing
the additional margin of excellence
in all facets of the School. I thank
our 2011–12 Board of Trustees, led by
President Gail Bernucca, for its enthusiastic
support. In addition, Development
Committee Chair Victoria Sunderland and
her guiding hand, plus Laurel Fredlake,
Annual Fund Committee Chair for the
leadership she and her committee provid-

When you give to the Annual Fund, you say “I believe in Tampa Prep!” Every family and friend of Tampa Prep
is asked for their support and our ranks are growing. Together, we can achieve the participation rates of 65%
for current parents and 15% for alumni as benchmarked by the National Association of Independent Schools.

of philanthropy at Tampa Prep.
The Annual Auction Gala and Dinner
is the second source of important operating
funds and is a longstanding tradition
of our community. Betsy Zollinger,
Auction Chair, is congratulated for running
another wonderful event, while both
raising needed revenue and building community.
On March 9, 2013, we look forward
to another beautiful evening, Bella
Sera, and thank Betsy for agreeing to
chair again!
Another Prep tradition, the Tampa
Prep Golf Outing, chaired in the 2011–12
by Paul Whiting, Jr. ’86 and Shannon
Liston Encina ’99 and organized by the
Alumni Association, supports Prep’s
endowment and is a very fun day with
our alums, parents and other Terrapin
friends. October 11, 2013 is our next outing—please
plan to join us.
Finally, an often unrecognized additional
source of revenue is Tampa Prep’s
renowned Camp Terrapin. Tammy
Honegger, Director of Summer Programs,
creates and leads our popular summer
camp that not only brings in additional
dollars to Prep, but serves as an admissions
funnel for future Terrapins!
We often hear the phrase, “it takes a
village,” and it couldn’t be more true. By
working together, we strengthen Tampa
Prep’s mission, impacting both our students
of today and future generations. As
we move deeper into the current school
year, this becomes clearer and more evident
with each passing day. Facility
enhancements like a new Student Center,
creating classroom space and offices in the
“old” Student Commons, and a reconfigured
Peifer Library are just a few of the
capital projects accomplished and on the
drawing board. If you haven’t been on
campus lately, come visit. 2011–12 was a
phenomenal year for Prep and we thank
each of you who gave. In 2012–13, with
your help, we will continue our forward
march, successfully blending tradition and
innovation.
