For all his undoubted intellect he cannot possibly live up to the size of the
image he projects to the outside world.
For all the hype and all the accusations, one thing about Gates shines
through: he is the greatest of all the computer entrepreneurs because he has
both the technical smarts to understand what’s just around the corner, and
the commercial smarts to sell it to the rest of us. This makes Bill Gates a
very rare bird indeed. But what makes him so powerful is that he was
standing there on the threshold of the PC revolution, to usher in the new
era. For this reason alone, there will never be another quite like him.
