Browse through your parents‘ closets, dig your
way through charity shops and vintage stores,
and rediscover old styles to call your own!
This summer, brands aren’t limiting themselves
to a single fashion era – no, trends
and inspirations from the different stages
of fashion history have been mixed and
matched to create the new summer styles of
2013. Maritime fashion from the 50‘s, playful
ethnic patterns from the 70‘s, checkered
prints from the 80‘s, harem trousers, finged
materials and even wild 90‘s neon designs.
Basically, there are no limits! Well – almost.
Some of the new fashion breakthroughs are
not quite compatible for both sexes - crop
tops, for one. For girls, the motto this summer
definately seems to be „less is more“, so show
off those laughter trained abs! Loose t-shirts
with unique prints, fringed hems and crazy
cuts are ideal for chilled days on the beach.
But please, gentlemen, we kindly ask that
you refrain from following this trend, no
matter how defined your six-pack may be.
Unless you’re at the beach or in bed, keep
those spartan abs under a cool t-shirt.
It’s easy for girls – there aren’t many nogo’s…and
plenty of must-haves! All you need
to pick out a unique outfit is a little bit of
imagination.
Volcom, O‘Neill, Quiksilver and many other
brands have come up with a new fashion
challenge for us this summer: neon colours!
Bright, eye-catching and definitely not easy to
combine. If you can remember back to the 90‘s,
or once dug up some old family albums, your
reaction will probably have constituted at least
one of the following: yelping, eye-scrunching,
running far, far away… Let‘s ensure that next
generations don’t have to suffer in the same
way, by absolutely avoiding neon colour combos
this summer (and forever). They are best used
sparingly and as the highlight of your outfit.
Don’t even think about mesh shirts, gloves or
similar neon-coloured 90‘s memorabilia, unless
you are at a bad taste party or it’s Halloween.
Luckily, there’s a whole summer to enjoy before
Halloween – so take in the long mellow
days, crashing waves and fun-filled holidays
in search of the perfect ride.
