'Christmas Homecoming' at Nazareth Academy "Christmas Homecoming," 50th anniversary Christmas festival of song, drama, and art, will be presented at Our Lady of Nazareth Academy on Decem- ber 12, at 2 o'clock in the after- noon and again at 8 o'clock in the evening. The program of traditional, classical, and contemporary set- tings of choral literature will be performed under the direction of the OLN Department of Perfor- ming Arts nd Fine Art, composed of Chairperson Dr. Patricia Capone Tamagini and Choral Conductor Lor; Suzanne Tamagini, both ol Wakefield: Art Teacher and Set Decorator Tina Grill Sferlazzo of Lynnfield; and Accompanist Anne Shields of Maiden. Performing will be the 73 voice Concert Choir, the 35 voice Chamber Singers, and the 18 voice ensemble "Trinity." Solos will be performed by performing arts department voice students and freshmen instrumentalists. Dancers from all grade levels will perform ballet, tap, and acrobatic routines and Nazareth art students will present original works. The entire fresh- man class will sing and act an original adaptation of "The Twelve Days of Christmas," fol- lowed by the senior ensembles performance of "The Twelve Days AFTER Christmas." A choral reading of the Prologue to the Gospel of St. John and a dramatization of the Gospel of St. Luke, Chapter 1 will be presented by the senior drama class. The role of the baby Jesus will be played alter- nately (2pm and 8pm) by Amanda Beth Cusato and Christine Beth Cusato, five month old twin daughters of David and Beth Capone Cusato Your Help! MA 01801 Ml Ptoeeeds To Benefit Local Families I of Reading. In 1982. Beth Capone played the role of the Virgin Mary in that year's Nazareth Christmas production. The audience will be invited to join in a sing-along of traditional carols with the choirs. All of the Nazareth choirs are featured on a CD and tape enti- tled "Joy in My Soul," which will be released in mid December. Music for the recod- ing was composed and arranged for the Nazareth choirs by facul- ty member Lora Suzanne Tamagini. There will be nation- wide distribution of this recording, which is produced by In Bus Love Music Ministry and was recorded by Double-Edge Musk Recording Company. The Nazareth Concert Choir enjoys an international reputa- tion. In 1996, at the invitation of the Vatican; a group of 45 choralists traveled to Rome, where they gave two concerts, including one where they had the great privilege of singing for Pope John Paul II. They also gave concerts at the Chiesa S. Maria De'Ricci in Florence and in the courtyard of the home of the Father of St. Francis in In addition to the performances at the Academy on December 12, the choirs can be heard singing at the following locations. December 6 at the Melrose Christmas Festival, December 13 at the Savings Bank in Wakefield, December 13 at St. Joseph's Church in Wakefield at the 4.-00 Mass, and on December 14 at St Joseph's Church at the 12:00 Mass. DALY of Reading has been awarded a special Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship. Shown above presenting the award is Preident Steve Chuha (left) and Christine's father Richard. Because of her outstanding record in school and community service, Christine was selected for this very unique honor. Christine E. Daly, daughter of Patrick and Kathleen Daly of Reading, has received a Multi Year Scholarship by The Rotary Foundation Trustees. This Ambassadorial Scholarship will enable Christie to continue her studies in English abroad Cor a graduate degree The grant was presented by President Steve Chuha of Reading Rotary at a special Thanksgiving luncheon at the Reading Public Library. This yearly meeting with the Stoneham Rotary Club has been a tradition for several years to prr> mote good sportsmanship between the-two rival football teams just prior to the annual Thanksgiving game, which was played in Reading this year. Christine is a 1993 graduate of Reading Memorial High School and received her BA in Secondary Education from Boston College in May, 1997, majoring in English. She wifl have completed a year of teaching in Texas, before going abroad. Daly has quite a record of accomplishments including: Honors: Graduated summa cumlaude from Boston College May, 1997 with a rank of sixth in the graduating class.
