DG Series globe valves provide stable and<br />
accurate control of both water and steam heat<br />
exchangers on fan coil units, VAV reheat coils,<br />
and air handling units up to 900 GPM. These globe<br />
valves feature rangability of greater than 100:1 to<br />
provide precise control.<br />
Two way standard trim valves provide an equal<br />
percentage flow characteristic for use on hot<br />
water and chilled water.<br />
Two way stainless trim valves - recommended for<br />
steam applications, and 3-way mixing valves<br />
provide a linear flow characteristic.<br />
All DG series globe valves feature a cartridge<br />
style packing, which is easily replaceable while<br />
the valve is in line. Constant plug guiding and<br />
precision-machined metal to metal seating<br />
assures ANSI Class IV shutoff (.01%) which<br />
provides low leakage and energy conservation.<br />

<strong>Globe</strong> Control <strong>Valves</strong> ½” through 2”<br />
<strong>Valves</strong> shall be cast bronze, ANSI 250 rating. Rangeability shall be 100:1 or greater. Connections shall be NPT.<br />
Water valves shall have an equal percentage flow characteristic, brass plug and EPDM cartridge style packing which can<br />
be replaced with the valve in line. Steam valves shall have a linear flow characteristic, stainless steel plug, Teflon V-ring<br />
packings, and shall be suitable for up to 50 PSI steam inlet pressure.<br />
Three way valves shall have a linear flow characteristic.<br />
<strong>Globe</strong> Control valves 2-1/2” through 6”<br />
<strong>Valves</strong> shall be cast iron with ANSI 125 rating. Rangeability shall be 100:1 or greater. Connections shall be ANSI flanged.<br />

When sizing a globe valve for a steam application, there are two methods of calculating the required<br />
Cv. The first method is to use the Steam Tables on pages GL-15 and GL-16.<br />
The tables are based on the steam pressure and pounds per hour. These tables use the standard rule of an<br />
80% pressure drop for modulating applications and a 10% pressure drop for on/off control. If the exact<br />
inlet pressure of the system is not referenced on the charts or a different pressure drop is desired, the<br />
following equations can also be used to calculate the required valve Cv.<br />
Note: The below equations are designed for sizing globe valves please consult <strong>Bray</strong> if you desire to use a ball or butterfly valve.<br />
Modulating Control:<br />
Determine the proper pressure drop.<br />
For low pressure steam (15 PSIG or less) use a pressure drop that is 80% of the gauge inlet pressure.<br />
= 0.8 x Pi (inlet pressure in PSIG)<br />
For higher pressure steam (greater than 15 PSIG) use a pressure drop that is 42%<br />
of the absolute inlet pressure.<br />
