Buying LOCAL
Just Got Closer to Home
THE MERITS OF buying goods locally can’t be overstated. It’s good for the earth, good for
the local economy, and allows you to directly support your community. As we approach
the holiday gift-giving season, perhaps you’ll want to check out some items made by a
couple of Maple Bluff artists and a handful of others from the Madison area. It doesn’t
get more local than that!
This second annual Artisan Sale brings local artists’ goods together for a day of preholiday
shopping fun, and convenience since the sale is being held right in the Village of
Maple Bluff. You are invited and welcomed to visit the sale on Saturday, November 10
from 9am until 2pm at the home of Mary Ann Germanson located at 924 Farwell Drive.
Mary Ann has been a Maple Bluff resident since 2009. The semi-retired art teacher
taught in the Wisconsin school system for nearly 25 years and creates jewelry, drawings,
photo greeting cards, and so much more. An artist her entire life, Mary Ann also commissions
paintings, co-authored a book, and teaches private art lessons. She’ll have an
array of items on hand for sale at the event and invites you to come and meet some of
your neighbors and support artists from the area, like Vicki DeWitt. Vicki is Mary Ann’s
neighbor and has lived in the Village of Maple Bluff for about 18 years. She’s been a knitter
for 13 years and will be selling scarves, hats, and mittens made from the finest yarns.
“This annual sale is a fantastic place to find unique, reasonably priced, gifts. And it
supports your local artists, which makes it a win-win event, said Mary Ann. “Please come
by and introduce yourself. Since I’m a relatively new resident of Maple Bluff, it’s always
great to meet more of my neighbors.”
