National Statistics There are approximately 650,000 occurrences in the United States. 400,000 of these patients go undiagnosed. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimated that about 250,000 Americans annually suffer from a PE. About 100,000 deaths occur annually and these could have been prevented with proper diagnosis and treatment.
