Kudos & Congratulations<br />
Congrats to all of the second grade students at 10 th and Penn Elementary. They’ve completed<br />
three random acts of kindness as part of the Magic Wand Project. The students are preparing to<br />
pass their wands to the school’s first graders, who will then complete another round of kindness<br />
acts.<br />
Three cheers for <strong>Reading</strong> High sophomore Kenny Steeves and freshman Devyn Goda who<br />
competed in the <strong>District</strong>s for AAA Diving. Steeves qualified for states with 274.60 points, and<br />
Goda earned an eighth place medal with a 267.90 score.<br />
High five for the student government at Northeast Middle <strong>School</strong>. The students have planned a<br />
dynamic Leadership Speakers Series featuring Mayor Vaughn Spencer and philanthropist Gust<br />
Zogas, among other community leaders.<br />
Congrats to Kathy Ritter, a fourth grade teacher at Amanda Stout Elementary, and four of her<br />
students for creating a phenomenal anti-bullying video. The students wrote the lyrics, which are<br />
set to the tune of the popular song, “Call Me Maybe.” To view the video, click here.<br />

Spring Coaching Positions<br />
The <strong>Reading</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong> Athletic Department has the following Spring coaching positions<br />
available: Middle <strong>School</strong> Track Coach (1; high jump coaching experience preferred);<br />
Assistant Coach Middle <strong>School</strong> Baseball (2); Middle <strong>School</strong> Softball Coach (Pony Team) (1);<br />
and Assistant Coach Middle <strong>School</strong> Softball (2). If you are interested, send a letter of intent<br />
and resume to Athletic Director Allen McCloud.<br />
REA Blood Drive<br />
The 2nd Annual <strong>Reading</strong> Education Association Blood Drive will take place on Wednesday,<br />
March 20, from 3-7 p.m. at the REA Office, 1800 North 12th St. All RSD employees are<br />
welcome to participate. All half-hour time slots are still available. Contact Priscilla at the<br />

RHS Castleaires Performance<br />
The <strong>Reading</strong> High <strong>School</strong> 'Castleaires' were asked to play at this year's Berks Jazz<br />
Festival. The group will be playing on Tuesday, April 9 at 6 p.m. The event is free. Click here<br />

Knight Walk on Saturday, March 2<br />
The 2013 Knight Walk will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 at the Geigle<br />
Complex. There will be plenty of games and activities, including a moon bounce, free throw<br />
contest, Twister, bowling, football, jump rope and hula hoops. The event is free. All are<br />
welcome to attend.<br />
Save the Date: RSD Project Peace - Peace March on Saturday, April 13<br />
RSD Project Peace members will host their 3 rd annual City-Wide Peace March from 1-5 p.m.<br />
on Saturday, April 13 (rain date: Sunday, April 14). The march will begin at 1 p.m. at the four<br />
RSD middle schools – Northwest, Northeast, Southwest and Southern, as well as at 6 th and<br />
Penn streets. The march continues to City Park, where there will be free food, speakers,<br />
entertainment, information about non-violence and most importantly, a chance to make a<br />
