5th Season<br />

UT Martin, 2006<br />

Sarah Daws enters her fi fth season as an assistant coach at UT<br />

Martin. Daws, who was a four-year member of the Skyhawk<br />

softball program as a catcher from 2001-04, works primarily<br />

with the pitchers and catchers along with providing hitting<br />

instruction.<br />

In 2010, Daws worked with Ohio Valley Conference<br />

Pitcher of the Year Paij Lintz. She also coached pitcher Kate<br />

Vanderham and catcher Laurie Lindow, who were both<br />

All-OVC fi rst-team selections along with Lintz. Vanderham<br />

picked up All-Newcomer honors, while Lindow was named<br />

to the OVC All-Tournament team.<br />

Before the 2010 season, Daws has had one member of her<br />

pitching staff named to the All-OVC Second Team, along<br />

with one All-OVC Tournament Team selection and the OVC<br />

Tournament MVP. She graduated from Th e University of<br />

Tennessee at Martin with a degree in education in 2004.<br />

During her time at UT Martin, Daws was the opening day<br />

catcher all four years of her career. Daws earned the team<br />

defensive award in 2001 and the golden glove in 2003. She<br />

also earned accolades on the conference level, being named<br />

All-OVC Honorable Mention in 2002 and All-OVC Second<br />

Team in 2003. Daws still appears in the program's record<br />

books 13 times and is among the top-fi ve in fi ve categories.<br />

Before returning to her alma mater, Daws was at Mill Creek<br />

High School where she was a special education teacher and<br />

served as an assistant coach with the varsity softball program<br />

and as head coach of the junior varsity program.<br />

Daws is the daughter of Barbara Daws and has one older<br />

brother, Geordy. She attended Brentwood High School where<br />

she was a two-sport athlete in softball and volleyball. On the<br />

diamond, Daws collected all-district accolades in 1998, 1999<br />

and 2000. She was named to the all-district tournament team<br />

in 1999 and 2000 along with being named to the all-region<br />

team in 2000. She led her team to district championships in<br />

1997, 1998 and 2000, regional championships in 1997, 1998<br />

and 2000, a sub-state championship in 1998.<br />

Daniel Farmer<br />

Graduate Assistant<br />

2nd Season<br />

UT Martin, 2010<br />

Daniel Farmer, a recent UT Martin graduate from<br />

Camden, has joined head softball coach Donley Canary's<br />

softball staff as a graduate assistant. Farmer will work<br />

primarily with outfi elders and hitters.<br />

While an undergraduate student at UT Martin,<br />

Farmer was highly involved in the Campus Recreation<br />

Department where he worked for fi ve years. During<br />

his tenure at Campus Recreation, he was responsible<br />

for supervising intramural activities, the Elam Center,<br />

Skyhawk Fieldhouse and the Student Recreation Center<br />

facilities. Farmer was also a swim instructor, lifeguard, and<br />

fi tness center attendant.<br />

Farmer earned a bachelor’s degree in Education with<br />

an Integrated Studies concentration. He will pursue a<br />

master’s degree in Education with aspirations of one day<br />

becoming a college coach.<br />

Before coming to UT Martin, Farmer was a two-sport<br />

athlete in basketball and baseball at Camden Central from<br />

2001-2005. On the diamond, Farmer collected all-district<br />

awards in 2004, 2005 and all-tournament team accolades<br />

in 2005.<br />

Farmer is the son of Danny and Liz Farmer and has three<br />

sisters, Amy Fitchpatrick, Sandra Th ornton and Karen<br />

Farmer.<br />
