SKYHAWK
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
The UT Martin strength and conditioning facilities are for the exclusive
use of Skyhawk student-athletes as they train for competition, under
the direction of strength and conditioning coach Charles Rayburn.
Sport specific workouts are designed by coach Rayburn and supervised
at all times by one or more members of the strength and conditioning
staff. Each student-athlete is placed in to respective developmental
levels according to individual ability and specific regiments are then
prescribed and continuously changed based on individual aptitude.
The Skyhawk strength and conditioning philosophy is multi-faceted
with a primary emphasis on reducing injuries during the season.
The 3,500 square-foot Skyhawk weight room, located on the second
level of Skyhawk Fieldhouse, includes Hammer Strength and Life
Fitness machines and weights. This state-of-the-art facility is equipped
with modern equipment ranging from self contained Power Lift
multi-racks with 6x8 platforms, Olympic lifting bars, a complete line
of rubber coated TGX dumbbells, a variety of glute/ham stations, a
huge plyometric/medicine ball area, and various other supplemental
pieces. The facility offers an unlimited variety of movements and
exercises for the student-athlete.
The Skyhawk weight room allows for large enough groups so the
student-athletes can train concurrently optimizing efficiency and
effectiveness but, small enough to receive individual direction.
