The maintenance and improvement of water quality represent a great
challenge to modern society. The conversion of existing structures
and the construction of new buildings for this purpose are, therefore,
assignments of great responsibility.
Sewage treatment structures have, first and foremost, to meet
functional needs. Nevertheless, a number of treatment plants built
in the recent years for the city of Munich demonstrate that design
considerations can also play an important role.
Over a period of 20 years, from 1986-2006, and further on, we have
helped to give the old Munich I sewage treatment plant a new face.
The project comprised the planning and construction management of
the new buildings, as well as the detailed design of the engineering
structures. The work included:
Artistic and architectural consultancy in respect of the new engineering
structures forming the second biological purification plant
Construction of the new building for mechanical plant with a hall for
vehicles and equipment
Construction of administration buildings and laboratories
Construction of a heating plant
Construction of a workshop for equipment and electrical installations
Artistic and architectural consultancy in respect of the hall for
mechanical plant and the new buildings for the northern works yard
Facade refurbishment of the water purification pumping house
Artistic and architectural consultancy in respect of construction of a new
sand filtration plant with electrical building. Sewage water pumping
station, drain-quantity measurement with visitors´ room, work yard and
adjacent to existing buildings, porters´ house and ground floor parking.
