STEEL CONSTRUCTION:
VERSATILE, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
There are a great many arguments
why you should build with steel:
Steel allows large areas to be spanned with
lightweight support structures. Steel structures
are versatile and are used for heightening
and structural alterations, even for existing
buildings. Building with steel means short
completion times, as component fabrication
is not dependent on the weather. And steel
works brilliantly with other types of construc-
tion material: composite structures with wood
or concrete are not only economic but also
Steel is environmentally sustainable, having
benefi ted from the constant improvement in
manufacturing processes over recent decades.
Emissions, water consumption and the recyc-
ling of by-products are fully optimised. Steel
does not release any substances into the envi-
ronment and is completely recyclable. Around
50% of global steel production is smelted
from scrap with no loss of quality. In Europe,
as much as 100% of steel used for girders is
sourced from recycled steel.
