WORKSHOPS<br />

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE<br />

• Indicate your choice of workshop(s) and complete the registration form available<br />

to download from the SAWG website, and available at all SAWG General Meetings.<br />

• Include a minimum $100 deposit (check or money order) per workshop with your<br />

registration form. Deposits are non refundable and non transferable to another workshop.<br />

• Make deposit/payment payable to SAWG.<br />

• Send all registration(s) and payment(s) to:<br />

• No registrations will be taken without a deposit and we will not take phone registrations.<br />

• <strong>Workshop</strong> sizes are limited and reservations will be accepted in the order in which<br />

they are received. Priority will be given to SAWG members up to September 1, 2012.<br />

Others who register will be put on a waiting list. If space becomes available after<br />

September 1st, they will be added, based on date of postmark, and notified. All others<br />

will be notified and their deposit refunded.<br />

• Each tuition balance is due 30 days before start of designated workshop.<br />

• A confirmation will be sent upon receipt of full payment, which is due at least 30 days<br />

prior to start of workshop. Registrants can download and print the supply list from the<br />

SAWG website workshop page — www.watercolor-sawg.org<br />

WORKSHOP REFUND POLICY<br />

• Up to 30 days prior to a workshop - 100% refund<br />

• Less than 30 days prior to a workshop — You are responsible for full payment.<br />

You are welcome to find a substitute<br />

to take your place (ask for waiting list)<br />

and arrange payment between<br />

yourselves, but refunds will not be made.<br />

• Full refund if SAWG, for any reason,<br />

cancels a workshop.<br />

EXPLORING EXCITING COLOR WITH<br />

LIMITED PALETTES<br />

Pat will teach you how to paint with 2 – no more than<br />

5 – colors; how to mix beautiful grays to enhance your<br />

paintings; and a simplified approach to drawing using a<br />

template. With a focus on the use of color and exploring the impressionist approach, any subject<br />

may be painted, including but not limited to animals, for which she has become known. Landscapes,<br />

animals, people, florals, marine scenes – all subject matter will be addressed using her<br />

emphasis on color. Pat has been featured in numerous watercolor publications and art catalogs.<br />

This workshop will include one day painting – or photographing -‘en plein air’, and 3 days of painting<br />

from your plein air sketches and/or photos. Learn how to compose on location and then to transfer<br />

the information gathered to a successful painting. Retired from teaching art full time, he is a master at<br />

capturing the essence of the landscape and you’ll learn techniques that will be invaluable when painting<br />

from photographs or plein-air sketches. He’s been featured in numerous art publications, has two<br />

instructional videos, and is a member of several plein air organizations and a frequent award winner.<br />

gathering inspiration, creating a good design, choosing a harmonious<br />

color chord, and using painting techniques she has mastered.<br />

A unique opportunity to learn Chinese brush painting, (two days) combined with watercolor<br />

(two days). Learn theory and practice of Asian art, as well as Lian’s “color pouring and blending”.<br />

His Chinese kit is available for $35 (rice paper, brushes, inks & paints) but not mandatory. He<br />

has had 3 Books published by North Light, and his workshop will emphasize composition,<br />

covering placement, balance, dynamic movement, and focal point. Lian has a BA from UC<br />

Berkeley and MFA from MIT, and is an internationally recognized artist and instructor.<br />

collage. Stephen is an internationally renowned artist<br />
