Forged Mold Clamps 

Open Toe Clamp 

For use on injection molds where it is preferred 

to slip clamps off their platen bolts during 

mold changes. Fully adjustable, these clamps 

are suitable for use on any mold having height 

or flange height between 15 ⁄32" and 2". Proper 

application and method of adjustment is shown 

below. Forged of hi-tensile steel, hardened and 

black oxide finished, clamps are available in 

lengths of 5 1 ⁄4" and 7" to fit platen bolt holes of 

5 ⁄8" and 3 ⁄4" diameter. 


Closed Toe Clamp 

For use on injection molds where the molders preference is 

to hang clamps on their platen bolts during mold changes. 

Fully adjustable, these clamps are suitable for use on any 

mold having height or flange height between 15 ⁄32" and 2". 

Proper application and method of adjustment is 

shown below. Forged of hi-tensile steel, 

hardened and black oxide finished, 

clamps are available in lengths 

of 5 1 ⁄4", 7", 9 1 ⁄2" and 12" (also 

machined clamps of 4", 10" and 

13") to fit platen bolt holes of 5 ⁄8", 3 ⁄4", 

1" and 1 1 ⁄4" (16, 20, 24 and 32mm) 

diameter.

Adjusting Screw 

Fig 1: Most standard molds have 13 ⁄16" wide slot (for clamp 

tongue) and( 29 ⁄32" dimension from base (platen surface) to slot. 

When using this type mold, the clamp is installed heel down 

with a regular length bolt, usually 3 1 ⁄2" and no adjusting 

screw.

Fig 2: If the clamping flange is of 15 ⁄32" to 

29 ⁄32" thickness, the clamp may be turned 

over and installed heel up; flat side 

down, with the adjusting screw on the 

flat side. 


Fig 3: In the event of a clamping flange height of 29 ⁄32" to 2", 

or no flange at all, the clamp may again be used in the heel 

down position with the adjusting screw and a longer bolt 

which will allow for holding power without the danger of 

stripping platen threads.
