THE CHILD PROTECTION CONFERENCE PROCESS
Introduction
When it appears (on completion of assessment) that a child is at on-going risk of
significant harm as a result of abuse or neglect and may need immediate protection,
the child protection processes are activated. The key processes are Child Protection
Conference (CPC) and Child Protection Review Conference (CPRC), Strategy
meetings, Child Protection Plans (CPP) and review of Child protection plans through
the review conference.
Linked to these processes are the Child Protection Notification Management Team
(CPNMT) and the Child Protection Notification System (CPNS).
CP PROCESSES (OVERVIEW)
CPNMT
The CPNMT has responsibility for monitoring standards of service provision and
delivery. The response, manner and quality of services provided to children and
families should be reviewed by the CPNMT by way of a systems check. Lessons
learnt through the systems check are used to identify and address deficits and to
continuously improve child protection process and systems.
