Therefore<br />

x + z = 360° - (60° + 60°)<br />

= 240°<br />

And as they are equal<br />

240° ÷ 2 = 120°<br />

x = 120°<br />

z = 120°<br />

Rectangle<br />

In a rectangle all the angles are right angles, as shown in Figure 7. The two<br />

sides opposite each other are parallel and equal in length. The two diagonals<br />

AD and CB are equal in length and bisect each other. The diagonals bisect the<br />

rectangle to form two congruent triangles.<br />

A square (Figure 8), is a rectangle with all its sides equal in length. The two<br />

diagonals AD and CB are equal in length and bisect each other. The diagonals<br />

intersect at 90° and bisect the square to form congruent triangles. The area of a<br />

square = L², where L is the length of one side of the square.<br />
