There are a number of clays<br />
formulated specifically for making<br />
dolls which come is a choice of skin<br />
tone colours. These include FIMO<br />
Puppen, FIMO Puppen Miniature,<br />
Cernit Doll Collection and Sculpey<br />
Living Doll. The clays have excellent<br />
smoothing quality and bake to a<br />
porcelain like finish which can be<br />
painted when baked.<br />
For larger dolls of 30cm tall or<br />
more, it is best to make just the<br />
head, forearms and lower legs out of<br />
polymer clay and create a soft body<br />
from fabric and polyester stuffing. If<br />
the head is more than about 25mm<br />
thick, you should use an armature<br />
(internal core or support) to prevent<br />
the clay cracking. This can be a rolled<br />
ball of foil or a ball of baked Sculpey<br />
Ultra Light clay.<br />
FIMO Puppen<br />
Formulated for making dolls, this polymer<br />
clay has excellent smoothing quality and the<br />
flesh-like surface is very strong with a porcelain<br />
shimmer after baking. It is ideal for both<br />
beginners and professionals. Blend with other<br />
polymer clays to increase the choice of skin<br />
tones. Bake at 130°C.<br />

clay for creating miniature dolls with expressive<br />
faces. Bake at 130°C.<br />

makers. The porcelain like finish can be sanded<br />
and painted once baked at 130°C.<br />

Sculpey Living Doll<br />
An outstanding clay with excellent sculpting<br />
properties, the name of this product should<br />
not deter model makers and sculptors. Used<br />
by doll makers worldwide. The clay colours are<br />
slightly translucent to simulate human flesh. The<br />
soft texture is smoothable and easy to work.<br />
It can be tinted with other polymer clays, or<br />
painted when baked, to make other skin tones<br />
and is extremely strong after baking. Bake for<br />
15 minutes per 6mm thickness at 130°C.<br />
