I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to
worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, but he said to me, ―You must not do that! I am a
fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book.
Worship God.‖Rev.22:8-9 The godly respect and honour that we give to people should never leave us feeling
inferior. To be born from aboveJn.3:3 and called a son of GodGal.4:6; Rom.8:16 gives us a spiritual
status that supersedes any social status. Without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greaterHeb.7:5 so
when Jacob blessed PharaohGen.47:3 the Believer (Jacob) showed that he was greater than the
most important person in the known world (Pharaoh)! But this importance does not give
us the right to dominate or control others. You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over
them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to
become great among you must be your servant. Matt.20:25-26 Be shepherds of God's flock… not lording it over
those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
1Pet.5:3 (also 2Cor.1:24)
So, how do we handle honour? Allow people to show their appreciation but don’t
take the credit for what God has done and continue to base our principles &
precepts on New Covenant teaching.
