IEPR Team Members/Disciplines Expertise Required<br />

Reviewer must have strong planning background related to<br />

coastal ecosystem restoration projects, good<br />

communication skills, extensive knowledge <strong>of</strong> the planning<br />

Planning<br />

process and experience with alternative formulation and<br />

comparison. It is recommended that this discipline also<br />

serve as the team leader.<br />

Reviewer must be experienced in civil works and related<br />

ecosystem restoration projects, and have a thorough<br />

Economics<br />

understanding <strong>of</strong> the IWR Planning Suite. This individual<br />

may also review the socio-economic evaluation if qualified.<br />

Reviewer must be experienced with National Environmental<br />

Policy Act (NEPA) compliance and have a biological or<br />

environmental background that is familiar with coastal<br />

areas. Additionally, the reviewer must have experience with<br />

Environmental Resources<br />

urban projects and impacts, evaluation <strong>of</strong> social impacts<br />

associated with ecosystem restoration projects, and public<br />

coordination.<br />

Hydrology/Hydraulic Engineering<br />

Geotechnical Engineering<br />

Civil Engineering<br />

Structural Engineering<br />

Cost Engineering<br />

Example Description: The hydraulic engineering reviewer will be<br />

an expert in the field <strong>of</strong> hydraulics and have a thorough<br />

understanding <strong>of</strong> open/closed channel dynamics and systems,<br />

and/or computer modeling techniques that will be used such as<br />

RMA-2, RMA-4, and TABS. It is recommended that the reviewer<br />

have experience with sediment modeling, especially in the<br />

Mississippi River.<br />

Team member must be experienced in dredged material<br />

placement design and construction, and capable <strong>of</strong><br />

evaluating impacts <strong>of</strong> wave energy and geomorphic<br />

processes to the proposed project features. A certified<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional engineer is recommended.<br />

Reviewer must have experience in dredged material<br />

placement, sediment transport, and shoreline restoration. A<br />

certified pr<strong>of</strong>essional engineer is necessary.<br />

Several proposed freshwater and sediment diversion structures<br />

may be utilized for this project. The reviewer should be familiar<br />

with how these different designs could influence the success <strong>of</strong><br />

the project.<br />

Reviewer must be familiar with cost estimating for similar<br />

civil works projects using MCACES. Reviewer will be a<br />

Certified Cost Technician, Certified Cost Consultant, or<br />

Certified Cost Engineer. A separate process and coordination<br />

for vetting <strong>of</strong> this reviewer is NOT required through the<br />
