The outstanding experience of the Holy Spirit in all<br />

gatherings, as indeed it is their unique blessedness, is in what<br />

the New Testament calls the "Communion of the Holy<br />

Spirit." There is a mystical consciousness of sharing the same<br />

Spirit even though there may be an almost bewildering variety<br />

of races and tongues, degrees of spiritual maturity, theological<br />

backgrounds, and evangelical experiences. We are<br />

fundamentally one in Christ Jesus, but that oneness in Christ<br />

is something more than a unity of faith and hope and love in<br />

our Blessed Redeemer. It is sealed home to our hearts by<br />

participation in the <strong>One</strong> Spirit. This is the unique blessing of<br />

Pentecost in the realm of fellowship. To enjoy the Spirit "as at<br />

the beginning" is to enjoy that which transcends every creed<br />

and translates its words into the power of God in millions of<br />

lives.<br />

Attitudes Towards The Supernatural<br />

A large part of the distinctive witness of the <strong>Pentecostal</strong><br />

revival is to the supernatural still accompanying the Christian<br />

gospel. Among conservative theologians at least there is<br />

unanimity that the supernatural accompanied not only the<br />

ministry of our Lord but also the Apostles. They did literally<br />

"heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and cast out<br />

devils." The early Christian churches enjoyed the supernatural<br />

in their meetings through manifestations of the Spirit in word<br />

and deed. It made the presence of God very real<br />

(1Corinthians14:25). <strong>Pentecostal</strong> churches are humbly<br />

rejoicing in the restoration in some measure of these things.<br />

The Christian denominations, as a whole, either deny the<br />

possibility, despise the value, or deplore the lack of such<br />

supernatural elements in the work and worship of the<br />

churches. Some point to the "miracle" of the new birth and<br />
