Lord at all costs. Flight into deliberate formalism is a poor<br />
remedy for its occasional abuse and marks poor leadership.<br />
The demands upon leaders of <strong>Pentecostal</strong> meetings for<br />
wisdom, love, and power are tremendous. But they are the<br />
inescapable price of being <strong>with</strong>in a revival. We believe those<br />
demands can be met in the fullness of the Spirit of Christ.<br />
And He who delivers from unclean spirits also heals the sick<br />
in mind.<br />
What Others Are Saying About Us<br />
Here are three articles from our contemporaries that carry<br />
blunt references to the <strong>Pentecostal</strong> movement. Though<br />
outspoken they are not unfriendly; rather the reverse. Old<br />
prejudices that always referred to the movement as essentially<br />
erroneous, or even devilish, happily seem at last to be dying<br />
out. We have no objection to brotherly criticism. We have<br />
given plenty. We trust we have enough humility of mind to<br />
learn from what others are saying about us.<br />
Incidentally it is significant that there are these increasing<br />
references. We are encouraged by the fact that the<br />
<strong>Pentecostal</strong>s can no longer be treated <strong>with</strong> disdain. To be<br />
quietly ignored is worse than violent attack. And we willingly<br />
grant that recognition is, and must be, based upon deeds and<br />
not words. It was the "Acts" of the apostles rather than their<br />
words that first drew wide attention to the primitive<br />
<strong>Pentecostal</strong> church. Theorizing about <strong>Pentecostal</strong> doctrines<br />
will impress none but theorists. It is manifest spiritual power<br />
that compels notice. Every true revival must find its soul in<br />
fervent evangelism or else dwindle into a rather exclusive sect<br />
for specialists.<br />
For that reason we are gratified by the reference to the<br />
<strong>Pentecostal</strong> revival made in the Annual Synod of the<br />
