VESSELS OF HONOUR FOR EFFECTIVE EVANGELISM

INTRODUCTION
“Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this
seal: The Lord knows those who are His, and, let everyone who
names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and
silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honour and some for
dishonour.
Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the later, he will be a
vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master,
prepared for every good work” (2 Timothy 2:19-21) NKJV.
From other translations of the bible, we gain more insight into the
meaning of the word “Vessels of Honour”.
From the Good News Bible the word Vessels of Honour is translated as
“used for special purposes”.
“If anyone makes himself clean from all those evil
things, “he will be used for special purposes”,
because he is dedicated and useful to his Master,
ready to be used for every good deed”.
Life Application Study Bible puts it this way:
“If you keep yourself pure, you will be “a special
utensil for honour use” your life will be clean, and
you will be ready for the Master to use you for every
good work”
Also Parents Resource Bible explained it thus:
“If you stay away from sin, you will be like “One of
these dishes made of purest gold”, the very best in
the house so that Christ Himself can use you fro his
highest purposes”.
And Revised Standard Version translates it as;
“If anyone purifies himself from what is ignoble,
then he will be “a vessel for noble use” consecrated
