Before starting at a company, make a career plan What would you like your career to look<br />

like? What will it take to get <strong>the</strong>re? Make sure you check in on your career plan regularly and<br />

are on track<br />

It’s very easy, particularly at <strong>the</strong> big companies, to get sucked into staying for a while They’re<br />

great companies with lots of perks, and most people are truly quite happy <strong>the</strong>re If what you<br />

want is to stay an engineer for life, <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong>re is absolutely nothing wrong with that<br />

However, if you want to run a company one day, or move up into management, you should<br />

stop and check your career plan Is ano<strong>the</strong>r year at your job going to help you get <strong>the</strong>re? Or<br />

is it time to move? You, and only you, can decide<br />
