Chair Chat
Only a few days left before summer break and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all
those parents who have volunteered their time and energy organizing programs and events,
participated in fundraisers and attended events, volunteered as Classroom Partners, helped in the
classroom, donated funds and have become involved to benefit all of our children. Without these
efforts it would not be possible to maintain the many extra programs and enhanced opportunities that
are offered at Frank Hobbs.
Thank you to our event coordinators and all parents who volunteered and participated to assist with
these committees and initiatives.
In case you were curious:
The Victoria Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (VCPAC) is
the official representative for School District 61 Parent Advisory
Councils. Their primary task under provincial legislation is to
advise the School Board on “any matter relating to education in
the school district”. Our Frank Hobbs PAC is one of the 49 VCPAC
member schools, and provides one way for parents, that's you,
to have input into education in SD61.
Cross Country and Track and Field
A special thanks to all those parents and teachers who came forward to help out
with the Cross Country and Track Programs. As a result of their efforts these
programs continued to be a great success this year.
Special Thanks!!
To Peppers Grocery and the Village
Starbucks for their endless support of
the school and events.

A TREMENDOUS THANK YOU
What a year we have had! A huge thank you to our PAC for all their hard work this year in getting so many
initiatives working in our school….phenomenal fitness support, move for Health Week, tennis, chess, family
dance, field trips, a Fine Arts Performance to name just a few of the things that we all have appreciated
this year. Thank you to everyone for your support and hard work!
Special thanks go to Anna Willis for keeping our entrance window looking so inviting to our new families.
Thank you!
A huge thank you to all of our Call Back parents who have faithfully come each morning to make sure that all our
students are here or safe at home. We really appreciate the time that you take out of your mornings to do this. A
special thank you goes to Brenda Micco for coordinating this very important program for the safety of our children.
Thank you parents for reading to your children, for supporting the school staff as we support learning for your
children, and for sending your well nourished, well rested, well loved children to us each day!
SUN SAFETY
The number of sunburns children receive increases the risk of developing skin cancer. Sun damage is not just
caused by burns - overexposure to UV radiation over time causes damage that can also lead to skin cancer.
Whether playing sports, going for a walk or on fieldtrips, or just spending time outside playing, please
help your child(ren) remember the following:
SEEK shade and limit sun exposure between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
SLIP into comfortable lightweight clothing made of tightly woven fabric.
SLAP on a broad-brimmed hat.
SLOP on broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater.
SAVE YOUR SMILE CARDS FROM THRIFTY FOOD! We have applied
to continue our participation in the Thrifty Smile Card Fundraising program for the
2010/2011 school year. You can keep your card that you received from Frank Hobbs and use it next year when the
program restarts. If you add funds to your card between now and the start up of the new school year, it is still
good to use, but Frank Hobbs will not receive the 5% of the amount you loaded onto the card.
WATERING VOLUNTEERS FOR SUMMER
The Garden Club is looking for volunteers during the summer break to help with watering. Come out and
spend some time in this very tranquil setting with lots of room for children to enjoy. The watering can be
done by hand from the facet in the garden or by the sprinkler provided. Please see the signup sheet in the office or
contact Barb Bundon barb.bundon@gmail.com, or Peter Willis pawillis@shaw.ca for more information. We are always
looking for volunteers and donations.
