events<br />
The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Port</strong> <strong>Phillip</strong> holds various events within the<br />
Municipality. During these events businesses are given<br />
the opportunity to participate by extending their outdoor<br />
trading areas. some <strong>of</strong> the events are managed and<br />
permitted through the Council’s Culture and Leisure Unit.<br />

2.16<br />
Temporary permits<br />
Temporary permits are <strong>of</strong>fered to existing businesses<br />
wishing to occupy the footpath for short periods <strong>of</strong> time.<br />
This can include a business owner wanting to:<br />
• Promote their business during Christmas, easter<br />
or a grand opening promotion.<br />
• extend an outdoor area during special events (including<br />
Grand Prix, Christmas, easter, activity centre festivals).<br />
The sale <strong>of</strong> items on the footpath is not permitted.<br />
These applications will be assessed on a case-by-case<br />
basis and approval is subject to Council’s discretion.<br />
